- Hilarious in Hindsight: It's interesting to go from the Accession Council scene in the Cold Open of episode 11 "King at Last", to the actual Accession Council for Charles III in 2022, as the opening lines of their speeches are almost verbatim. Which may not be coincidental; not only is Charles a direct descendant who acceded under similar circumstances, there is probably either some degree of a formula for every time this happens, even more than a century later, or a recognition that Bertie’s PR skills and degree of charm and sympathy were really that good.
- Retroactive Recognition:
- Charles Dance as Prince Eddy.
- Derek Fowlds as Lord Randolph Churchill (Winston's father)
- Queen Victoria is played by Annette Crosbie, who would later be best known for playing Margaret Meldrew in One Foot in the Grave.
- The American Attaché from "The New World" is played by Christopher Malcolm, who would later be best known for playing Justin in Absolutely Fabulous.
- Minny is played by Gwyneth Strong, who would later be best known for playing Cassandra Trotter in Only Fools and Horses.
- George Leybourne from "Dearest Prince" is played by Trevor Peacock, who would later be best known for playing Jim Trott in The Vicar of Dibley.
- Tear Jerker: The end of Episode One, as the toddler Bertie looks heartbroken as Albert takes his Christmas Toy away and expects him to play with an Abacus.
- The Woobie: Princess Alix. Her position as Princess of Wales forces her to put up with many a thing: her husband's many infidelities, being forced to act graceful and courtly to people she dislikes, and losing her eldest son.
