- Award Snub:
- A rather significant chunk of people are willing to contest this film's Academy Award win over Do the Right Thing, to the point where mentioning Driving Miss Daisy is a bit of a Berserk Button for Do the Right Thing's director and lead actor Spike Lee. When Lee's later film, BlacKkKlansman, lost Best Picture to Green Book in the 2018 Academy Awards, many critics (and Lee himself) saw it as history repeating itself.
- Of the Oscars it was nominated for, shockingly, Hans Zimmer's score was not nominated. Two of the nominated films, The Little Mermaid (1989) (which won) and The Fabulous Baker Boys had memorable songs, but their scores are largely forgotten.
- Awesome Music: Do you expect anything less from Hans Zimmer? Zimmer played every note of the score himself on synthesizers and it's easily one of the best all-electronic movies scores ever.
- Misaimed Fandom: The play and film weren't entirely about race relations, they were about growing old.
