YMMV / Drew Gooden

Go To

  • Friendly Fandoms:
    • His fandom overlaps quite a bit with the Danny Gonzalez fandom, due to their similar content, numerous collaborations, and their genuine off-screen friendship. Many a video of his have comment sections with Danny Gonzalez jokes, and vice versa.
    • His fandom also overlaps with that of Kurtis Conner for similar reasons; Kurtis was featured in Drew and Danny's "We Are Two Different People" tour and the three have collaborated on and off since then.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • Drew's general nostalgia for Vine. He looks back on his days there very fondly thanks in no part to making some great friends, creating memes that much to his amazement are still quoted in their entirety to this day, and most importantly meeting his future wife Amanda there.
    • After watching an episode from every Saturday Night Live season, Drew concludes that SNL has always been a mixed bag, but it's always rewarding to see young actors find their comedic footing and be able to recognize them if they ever get their own movies.
    • Drew adamantly defending the Star Wars fan Squeeing about the The Rise of Skywalker trailer from the then-unnamed Andrew Tate, going as far as complimenting the fan for managing to maintain enthusiasm for a franchise Drew himself had lost interest in for a while now.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • In Drew's first video about the Best Trends channel, Drew explains how Best Trends makes all his videos ten minutes long so he can put six midroll ads on all his videos, then demonstrates with one of his videos how he could put ten midroll ads on the video if he wanted to. After the Best Trends channel was terminated and revived, it indeed increased the number of midroll ads on every video to ten each. Drew points this out in his next video, wondering if he gave Best Trends the idea.
    • In "The Dumbest Stuff I've Seen This Month," posted in 2019, Drew comes across a Twitter post from a man bragging about how he's never seen Star Wars and doesn't intend on doing so because he feels he doesn't have to since he lives such a luxurious lifestyle. Though he doesn't say his actual name directly, possibly to avoid giving him more attention, current viewers may recognize the man as none other than Andrew Tate, a whole 2-3 years before he came to be more well known.
    • In "I am addicted to buying weird ads," when using Tribal Chimp to style his hair, Drew remarks he's had the same hairstyle for six years, sarcastically claiming, "I can't veer from that, I gotta do the same thing forever!" A year later, he would dye his hair blue to emulate Ninja as part of a video, and would have to keep it blue for several more videos, much to his open displeasure.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • "Road Work Ahead? Uh, yeah, I sure hope it does!" Explanation
    • A common fandom joke is that he and Danny Gonzalez, a creator with similar content and humor, are actually the same person. The meme, shared by both channels, even named their "We Are Two Different People" tour, not that it stopped the meme from existing. Even their wives look similar! This serves as the basis for the song "We Are Not The Same Person".
    • Amanda is lost in AfghanistanExplanation
    • It ony a movie.Explanation
  • Misaimed Fandom: Drew posted a joke video on Twitter of him, Kurtis Conner and Danny Gonzalez beating up a fan (actually Jake Doolittle, another content creator) who posed with them for a meet-and-greet on their tour, satirizing a video where the Dobre Brothers took an obviously disinterested photo with their fan during a meet-and-greet on their tour, with a caption ripped straight from Lucas Dobre's apology for the incident. Drew's video spread far enough that people missed the satire and assumed he was willingly posting a real video of him beating up a fan, earning him some hate comments.
