- The "secondary hero" Peter looks a lot like Harry Potter (particularly Harry's '80s Hair look in his fourth movie) with his untidy black hair and round glasses, so much that it can be distracting. This film predates the Potter books and movies by almost two decades.
- Dennis Franz appears in this film that homages Psycho, then three years later following the theatrical release of this film, he appeared in the latter's sequel Psycho II.
- Fair for Its Day: The portrayal of trans people has not aged well in the slightest, being based off of fears of Cis people and harmful stereotypes. However, the sex worker protagonist (whom is never judged or treated as lesser due to her profession) is notably progressive, and rare even today.
