• Angst? What Angst?: Rarely do the character acknowledge the level of tragedy within the story.
• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Junko's video display depicting The End of the World as We Know It. Fuck you Baltimore!
• Captain Obvious Reveal: Celestia being such a Bad Liar is probably meant to satirize how many players figured out she was the culprit of that chapter.
• Crack Pairing: The Narrator seems to think Yasuhiro and Makoto are both stupid enough to suit each other perfectly.

• Heartwarming Moments: Despite the cynical (and possibly sarcastic) delivery, there's something really nice about The Narrator trying to convince Makoto that the first motivation wasn't worth killing for.
• Jerkass Woobie: Makoto isn't exactly pleasant, but considering the Crapsack World he inhabits and the people he has to spend his time with...
• Moral Event Horizon: Probably Yasuhiro eating the butter. And then lamenting that he didn't get more butter after the next trial.
• Nausea Fuel: Kyoko's love of showing people "something gross" can become this. And then there's the butter incident...
• Never Live It Down: The rest of the students, upon accusing Makoto.

• Less Disturbing in Context: When asked where she went for the entire third episode, Kyoko says she was in the boy's bathroom the entire time. Despite the trope's usual purpose, she doesn't actually care whether Makoto thinks this sounds more weird than it really was.
