• Harsher in Hindsight: A scene showing a guy getting hit and injured by a self driving pizza delivery van gets darker after a video was released of a self-driving Uber vehicle hitting and killing a woman.
• Inferred Holocaust: Unscrupulous people killing anyone who could identify them from the scene of a crime must be happening A LOT with this memory scanning technology being so widespread.
• Jerkass Woobie: Both Rob and Mia qualify.
• Memetic Mutation: The fact that Mia gets caught thanks to the guinea pig being the only witness of her murder of Shazia's family spawned many jokes on how contrived and stupid it is.
• Moral Event Horizon: Mia's first murder of the episode COULD be seen as somewhat sympathetic if you were really generous. He killed someone while driving drunk, forced her to help him hide the body, and then, years later, wanted to salve his conscience by confessing, which could potentially destroy her life. Then she covers up that crime by murdering an innocent woman. Then covers that up by murdering the woman's husband. Then tries to cover that up by murdering a baby. Having crossed the horizon, there seems to be no more limits on what she's willing to do.
• Narm: The twist that Mia, after committing multiple murders to cover her tracks, was thwarted by a guinea pig, has been a tough pill to swallow for some fans. The additional revelation that the baby she killed was blind anyway can also be seen as a bit excessive. For what it's worth, Brooker intended for it to be a darkly humorous conclusion to the story, akin to Fargo.
