YMMV / Assassin's Pride

  • Moe: Melida is an adorable little girl who does her best to become a powerful knight yet is still vulnerable in many endearing ways. It is no wonder that Kufa was moved by protective feelings.
  • Narm: All over the place. Aside from the ham-fisted character names (Vampyr? Angel?), there's a stand-out example in the first episode, when Melida is harassed by Pumpkin-Heads. One of them threatens to cut her hair, and she tearfully begs it not to, because it's the only thing she has to remember her mom by (both were blondes). Aside from the fact that that the Pumpkin-Head has no real reason to target Melida's hair like this, and Melida pleading with a monster that can't talk, the implication that Melida will forget about her mother if her hair is cut over looks two prominent facts: 1. The Pumpkin-Head was seemingly only taking off a few inches. 2. Hair grows back. The emotional sincerity the scene is delivered with just makes it all the funnier.
  • So Bad, It's Good: This work is pretty much the culmination of every trope in the Chuunibyou and Fantastic Romance genre ran up to eleven for guys and girls respectively. Not that it stops people from actually enjoying it for playing them straight.
  • Squick: Many see the relationship of Kuufa and Melida as this, given their age difference. It doesn't help that other underage female characters try to make passes at him.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The background setting itself. A Crapsack World where it's Always Night and humanity has to live in a giant tree which houses various lamps containing their Small Secluded Worlds. A lingering corruption lies beyond the tree that turns its victims ranging from Monster Clowns to vampires. This would be a legitimately good Gothic Horror series, right? Nope. The series mainly focuses on adventures in a Wizarding School and political conspiracies with occasional breaks to show several girls fighting over the main character's affections. In other words, plotlines with only the thinnest connection to the Gothic Horror setting. Considering how most of the main characters are expected to fight the corruption for the sake of humanity's continued existence, time will tell if this plot element will be properly utilized in the future.
