Angry Birds Stella

Go To

General

  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Out of Stella's flock, Willow is the most remembered, mostly due to her unique design and Sensitive Artist personality. It helps that as of 2025, she is the only Stella-exclusive bird to have an entry on the current Angry Birds website, and has a supporting role in the comics "The Strong and Silent Terence" and "Jo's Gift."

The game

  • Scrappy Mechanic: For every time you reach a Wall of Pigs level (every 12 levels on average), you will see Gale and her Minion Pigs dump a smoke bomb on the wall, causing a large cloud of purple smoke to appear. You must either wait up to 6 hours for the smoke to clear itself or spend some Gold to clear it instantly, the price increasing the further into the game you get.

The animated series

  • Adaptation Displacement: Due to the game getting removed from app stores in 2016, many people are more familiar with the show than with the game.
  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Regarding Shaman Pig's motive to assimilate everyone into his piggy minions. Is he truly evil, or just simply his way to "invite" them into his halloween dance party? It also helps that everyone return to normal by dawn, as if they awaken from a hangover.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: In the episodes "Own the Sky" and "Step It Up!", Stella gets pretty roughed up, taking hard falls that would definitely leave more than a mark. Then, after the movies established that Stella looked pretty leggy, one who looks back at these two episodes might not want to even start to think about how exponentially horrific these injuries could become if it's so that she broke her legs in such accidents — because they'd pretty much be goners. The same could also be said for Gale, since she's also shown to be leggy in the movies, and midway through the series, she is nearly killed by large collapsing rocks, suffering injuries that confined her to a wheelchair, implying that she pretty much broke at least a bone.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: In "The Prankster", Poppy does an elaborate prank to Stella with a simple glass of water as the following chaos ends up with the latter covered with red feathers. While Stella's covered look was possibly intended to evoke Red's design, it ends up vaguely looking like Ruby's design by KrimaDraws instead.note
  • Jerkass Woobie: Gale might be greedy and insensitive, but she still wanted to reconnect with her old friends. Her pride and selfishness regarding the golden egg still alienated herself from Stella and the flock.
  • Les Yay/Foe Yay Shipping: Stella and Gale has this kind of dynamic to some fans' eyes. And it shows where Stella misses Gale dearly when she left the flock despite her hatred toward her betrayal, and vice versa with Gale despite she wanted to become the queen of Golden Island. There also some pictures of their moment together on both of their tree home shown in the second episode with one of them shown to be the implication of Stella attempting to kiss Gale and in the finale, Stella decide to free Gale from being turned into gold despite her friend & Gale's own minion pigs refuse to do so and they staring each others' eyes affectionately afterward.
  • Nightmare Fuel: In "Night of the Bling", after accidentally awakening the Shaman Pig, Stella is forced to see her friends one by one be turned into his piggy minions and not able to save any of them... then turned into one of them herself.
  • One-Scene Wonder: The Shaman Pig from "Night of the Bling"... he and his horde are awakened from their eternal rest, successfully assimilated the birds and Gale's minions into his piggy horde... and they're only spared by him returning to sleep with the dawn and his spell being undone.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • Right off the bat, the first episode ends with a Downer Ending on the very moment Gale decide to leave her friends behind as the new ruler of the pigs and completes her Face–Heel Turn, which made them heartbroken, especially Stella. This alone sets up what kind of tone the series is aiming for.
    • Painter Pig's mistreatment by Gale in "The Portrait" could be considered as this, especially the part where he breaks down crying after she snap off his brush. Thankfully, Willow manage to give him her own brush before leaving, much to his joy, which is doubled as Heart Warming Moment.
    • Gale's Disney Death in the episode "To the Bitter End".
      • Also, with Gale presumed dead, the pigs under her command are suddenly leaderless. Her second in command seemingly spends all day weeping at a painting of her, while the rest of the pigs go wild in the castle. When Stella live with them for a day to spite her friends for their hostile treatment of them when they were effectively her houseguests... she can't stand what a chaotic mess they are, and misses her friends, so sneaks out in the middle of the night. And she finds the entire sounder of rank and file pigs behind her, looking sad and desperate. You can practically hear them asking, "Are you going to leave us too?" and clearly wanting Stella to take Gale's place. Stella still goes back to her friends, but it's clear she's sad at having to leave them.
  • The Woobie: While it's not apparent at first, the Minion Pigs suffer this quite badly in this series even with their usual cheerful demeanor and their status as Butt Monkeys. Despite being undyingly loyal toward Gale and follow her every whims, she still abuse them in every way possible. And unlike King Pig's case, sometimes her mistreatment toward them are not Played for Laughs. And it get worse for them in the series finale where she turn them into gold one by one if they ever make a mistake in front of her. It gotten so bad to the point of the pigs considered to take the golden egg away from her at one point.
    • Special mention goes to the painter pig. Despite his best attempts to make a perfect painting for Gale, she continously disdain his works to the point of breaking his brush altogether in a fit of rage, leaving him crying on the spot as once again, all this are not Played for Laughs. You may feel sorry for the guy...
