- Catharsis Factor: After spending an entire game going through hell trying to escape his faked reality-show life, the ending where Trevor is given a chance to speak to his audience (ostensibly to explain that he was never in any danger) but instead chooses to scream out "LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE!" and leaves the show for good is immensely satisfying.
- Jerks Are Worse Than Villains: The official Big Bad of the story, Vivian Walton, is a Corrupt Corporate Executive who nevertheless gets lots of character insight thanks to her backstory, her Chessmaster behaviour, and the fact that she's actually in control of the entire plot up until the very last line before the credits roll. In comparison, Angela's immediate boss Kendra isn't hinted to be any kind of major player in the story and is just there to be a general nuisance and character to be despised.
- Magnificent Bastard: Vivian Walton, real name Emily Garland, is the presentator for the show American Arcadia and the CEO for the company Walton Media. Initially one of the people who managed to escape the heavily secured Arcadia, she realized that the world outside of the confined city was worse than imagined, and managed to strike a deal with the other escapees to rise to the top of the Walton company going by a fake name. More manipulative and cunning than first seems, she undergoes by a fake alias of "Number Six" and manipulates both Angela and Trevor to seemingly escape Arcadia for the sake of a revolution, as well as hiring actors for them to chase them down all for the launch of a new spin off series "Escape from Arcadia", where people from the city realize their lifes are fake and try to escape in the real world. Willing to keep brainwashing people to prevent them from escaping the city through "The Jingle" system, and remaining polite all throughout, Vivian manages to get away with her plans unpunished, while also letting Trevor walk out of the city with money.
