Sixteen years ago, the most powerful warrior magicians of the Magical Dimension sacrificed all in battle against a great force of evil. Now, the fate of the lost kingdom lies in the hands of one girl - Bloom, the Fairy of the Dragon Flame. Accompanied by her fellow friends from the Winx Club, Bloom must face the greatest challenge of all: venturing into the depths of the dark dimension and fighting against the same evil in order to bring her parents back to life and finally solve the mystery of her origins. Will Bloom, Flora, Stella, Aishanote , Musa and Tecna manage to defeat the most nightmarish of creatures and find the last king of Domino, and will Bloom be able to save the lost kingdom and finally become its princess? The Magical Dimension's entire future will depend on the outcome of this battle...

Released in Italy in November 2007 through O1 Distribution, The Secret of the Lost Kingdom is the first of three feature-length films in the Winx Club series, taking place after the events of the first three seasons of the TV show. The film is also a major move for the franchise, as it was the first to be entirely animated in 3D CGI animation, something that isn't too hard to notice when compared to the TV show's hand-drawn animation style. In spring 2012, the film premiered to Western audiences on Nickelodeon after the announcement in February 2011 that said channel's parent company Viacom became a co-owner of Rainbow, and that Viacom would re-release the film through its subsidiary Paramount Pictures.

Examples of tropes featured in this film:

  • Adapted Out: Many versions of the film have various shortened versions of/cut scenes originally featured in the Italian and some other European dubs:
    • During the Winx's battle with Hagen's robots:
      • Aisha twirls her wand upon destroying two robots. The last couple of frames of this part are, however, still intact (the Nickelodeon dub cuts this out).
      • After Aisha is hit by one of the blades of the robots, the camera zooms to Bloom, who says "Oh, no, Aisha!"
      • After Stella says "They are tougher than we thought, and uglier too!", the scene cuts to Flora chanting what originally was "Magic winding ivy!" as "Maybe this will slow them down.", using the chant while the vines tangle the robots.
    • A scene where Riven and Hagen talk on a balcony at Alfea that instead fades straight to the Winx (except Musa) looking down at Bloom and Sky from the balcony.
    • A shot of Musa and Stella while the girls comfort Bloom with a hug in the bedroom.
    • A part of Bloom's dream conversation with Daphne where she notes of how the secret library had been spared by the Ancestral Witches when they destroyed Domino.
    • A scene with the Winx and Specialists entering the secret library and admiring how clean it looks despite the destruction of Domino.
  • Aren't You Forgetting Someone?: Before the Winx can make the trip to Obsidian, they encounter the Pixies, who encourage them to travel to a tree of portals in their village so they can find a key that can unlock Obsidian's portals.
  • Beautiful Singing Voice: Musa's powers trigger this in two attempts to calm the Roc, which holds Domino's secret library (and the Specialists, who accidentally awakened it), down. The first fails, as the ship that the Winx are on is too far away from the creature, but the second is successful, allowing the Roc to land safely while Musa gets credit from her friends.
  • Big Bad: Mandragora and the Ancestral Witches.
  • Big Damn Reunion: The plot of this film involves Bloom believing that her and Daphne's biological parents, King Oritel and Queen Marion, may still be alive, and vows to bring them back to life. She is able to do so by the end of this film.
  • By the Power of Grayskull! / Transformation Name Announcement: "Winx Enchantix!"
    • While most dubs simply have each girl say just their name as they transform, the Nickelodeon dub takes everything up to eleven with "[insert name here], Fairy of [insert name here]!", which is commonly used in the latter company's dub of the TV show.
  • Did You Actually Believe...?: The Ancestral Witches threaten to have Mandragora kill Bloom's adoptive parents unless she can destroy King Oritel's sword. However, Bloom goads them into thinking she'd fall for the trap after she notices Mike stroking the cat without sneezing in the vision of which she is given, noting of his Out-of-Character Alert and that if it really was him, then his allergies would act up, which would mean he couldn't play with the cat. She then considers Mandragora a joke, saying there's no way she could've defeated the Specialists, all before delivering a powerful blow to the Ancestral Witches.
  • Monster of the Week: Mandragora and the Ancestral Witches.
  • Power Pop: Like other Winx Club-related material, a top selection of inspiring girl-power pop songs performed by series regular Elisa Rosselli in English and Italian play throughout the film. Australian-born singer-songwriter Natalie Imbruglia also contributes with the beautiful "All the Magic", which plays during the end credits.
  • A Taste of Defeat: After successfully possessing Riven and making him her puppet, Mandragora attacks Alfea in order to garner more information about Domino. The Winx fend her off (though not unless she knows Bloom's name in the process), but Alfea is left completely destroyed.
