The LJN Defender, is a game reviewer whose distinguishing qualities involve giving many bad games the benefit of the doubt, reviewing homebrew games, or listing their personal top 10s. As the
LJN Defender, they do their best to find the silver lining in LJN's licensed games. In their other series,
Innocent Until Proven Guilty, they review other poorly-received or polarizing games and finds arguments for and against those games. The channel since has been deleted after having been retired for 3 years,
but an archive by Sorpaqq on Archive.org can be found.
Cygnus Destroyer in general provides examples of:
- The Idealist: No matter how terrible or unfairly frustrating a game they review can get, Morgan will always keep their cool when describing their experience, and always tries to find the good in the bad. One of the most notable examples of this are their judgements on maligned educational games like Crystals Pony Tale and especially the particularly hated Captain Novolin.
- Lighter and Softer: Than most game review shows, which often involve dramatic plots, foul vocabulary, and self-inflicted torment. Throughout all their shows, Morgan keeps things at a PG level (and sometimes puts in some content warnings where a game deals with some not-so-PG level content).
The LJN Defender provides examples of:
- Big Bad: Bits is to the LJN Defender as LJN as a whole is to the Angry Video Game Nerd, given their atrocious efforts on some Terminator and Spider Man games.
- Everyone Has Standards: Not even the LJN Defender could defend Spirit of Speed 1937, and admitted that defending Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (on NES) would be daunting. When they finally managed to get to Bill and Ted on NES, while acknowledging its positives, they felt that people should still avoid the game. They were also unable to defend The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and 3 on the GameBoy.
- Spiritual Antithesis: To the Angry Video Game Nerd. While the AVGN lists LJN as their Arch-Enemy, the LJN Defender (almost) always finds a way to spin the LJN games they review in a good light.
Innocent Until Proven Guilty provides examples of:
- Angrish: Uses footage of Nicholas Cage doing this in Deadfall in the Sonic the Hedgehog: Genesis and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation episodes.
- Audience Participation: Fans requested their review of Castlevania II: Simon's Quest.
- Bile Fascination: An in-universe example. Some of the games they reviewed for the series, they felt they were So Bad, It's Good, one example being Plumbers Don't Wear Ties.
- Chiptune: Has a short chiptune opening.
- Courtroom Episode: As you'd expect, it takes place in a courtroom.
- Darker and Edgier: Than their other two staples. Here, Morgan isn't afraid to point out significant flaws and criticisms in games. Any game they deem deserving of its reputation is considered "Guilty".
- Extremely Short Intro Sequence: It's only 6 seconds long.
- Instrumental Theme Tune: Has a short chiptune opening.
- Rage Breaking Point: They've had to try and repeatedly calm themself down when discussing Dragonball Evolution, but being a fan of the franchise, they couldn't defend the film due to its Adaptation Decay, and even skipped the "innocent" arguements after stating how it's guilty, and went right to the verdict. Arguably the most notable time they lost their cool is when they were enacting the punishment for the previously declared guilty Dark Castle. "Burn in hell you despicable sob!" Probably some of the strongest language they have ever used.
- Take a Third Option: Sometimes a game has enough virtues and vices to not be considered Innocent or Guilty, so Morgan came up with "Guinnocent". Examples that fell under this are Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Plumbers Don't Wear Ties and Ride To Hell Retribution.
- Title Drop: They usually say that the games are innocent until proven guilty.
