50 Percent Competence is a Machinima series based on the Halo franchise. It is a Perspective Flip the plots of Halo 2 and Halo 3, following a squadron of ordinary soldiers reacting to a changing universe as a result of the battle of earth. It also follows a team of experimental supersoliders unsure of their true role in the war. The two groups must put aside their differences after becoming stranded away from the battlefield.
It is still in production, with only the debut episode currently released.
Tropes:
- Custom Uniform: Scott wears a custom ODST/TAC helmet to distinguish himself as a leader. Harrison is the only character who carries his standard issue backpack, reflecting his tryhard personality. All four members of Chi-Nine have colour coded armour accents to tell them apart, when ODST squads tend to look identical, as seen in Chapter 1's brief cameo from The Amber Clad's First Platoon
- Elective Unintelligible: In Chapter 1, Rogers acts like a complete weirdo in an attempt to annoy Scott, and continues to act both incomprehensible and strange until the threat of war arrives midway through the episode. Harrison acts as a Translator Buddy explaining the bizzare attempts at humour
- Experienced Protagonist: Both squad leaders are shown to be military professionals.
- Genre Refugee: Jones, who was incorrectly drafted into the wrong part of the military and skipped the majority of training, does not fit the army setting.
- Like a Duck Takes to Water: Jones was not intended to be in her current role and doesn't fit it personality wise. They kept her around since she's such a good shot with a sniper rifle.
- Jack of All Trades: Agent Valkyrie has a past as an exobiologist AND a fighter jet pilot.
- Loony Friends Improve Your Personality: Scott.
