Destiny's Princess: A War Story, A Love Story, is a visual novel released on Steam on Apr 6, 2016 by Dogenzaka Lab. It features a kingdom in Alternate History Japan which has been overrun by demons, and a princess who, in an act of desperation, summons five heroes from Japan's Warring States Period to help save her kingdom. At least, that's what she thinks she did.

  • Brother–Sister Incest: Yukimura and the protagonist run into this problem over the course of their relationship. Yukimura never gets his original memories back, and it . The demon in the knife states that the protagonist's actual brother was in love with her, however, which is a much more straight example of this trope.
  • Demon King Nobunaga: Nobunaga plays this up at one point, claiming to have been sent from the heavens to protect the protagonist's kingdom. Considering they've been fighting an actual army of demons, it's possible he was relying on stretching their creduility a bit. The protagonist doubts that they'll overlookg it forever and she's right; in both of his ending's he's assassinated.
  • Disposable FiancĂ©: Hanbei fills this role in every route except his own.
  • Downer Ending: The game has a mix of happy, neutral, and downer endings. The players knowledge of the Sengoku period can help them predict what love interest leads to what kind of ending.
    • The protagonist is implied to have died if she follows Yukimura back to his world. There's a decent chance Yukimura also dies of his injuries, as he was caught under a collapsing building.
    • Hanbei has no happy ending, as his illness will kill him no matter what. The only matter in question is whether the protagonist starves herself to death after following Hanbei to the world he comes from, or continues to live her life in her original world.
    • Nobunaga is also assassinated in both his endings, with the protagonist alternatively committing suicicde to follow him (and then helping him take over hell), or staying to see his dream through of reuiniting Japan on her own.
  • Dreaming of Times Gone By: The protagonist occasionally dreams of her original father and brother. Even if she can't remember specifics about them, such as their names or their faces, she can recall conversations that hint at why her country is suffering a demon invasion.
  • Fake Memories: The Sengoku love interests have their memories replaced with those of the people whose roles they've assumed. Except for Nobunaga, who knows who he is and who he's replaced, even if he doesn't know how it happened. In his own route Nobunaga even knows that he's been summoned twice, once to help the protagonist's ancestors. Hanbei also figures out that he's not from the main setting, though that's more through deduction and he doesn't have the all of information Nobunaga has from the start.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: The default name for the heroine is "Saya," but the player can change it any time they'd like from the title page.
  • Hot-Blooded: Yukimura's defining character trait.
  • Parental Incest: Because the vassals have been magicked to believe that the heroes are and have always been the people they've replaced, Oda Nobunaga and the protagonist's relationship looks like this as he comes on to her from the very first chapter in his route. Unlike the other love interests, Nobunaga knew immediately that he wasn't the protagonist's father. It just looks like parental incest to everyone else. The protagonist's original father however, was implied to have incestuous inclinations towards his daughter, thus why she remained unmarried and at home despite being of age for an advantageous political alliance.
  • Relationship Values: The love interest's affection for the protagonist can go up depending on her choices, although it's unclear what the value actually does since the ending is determined by a single option towards the end of the route rather than the Likeability stat.
  • Refuge in Audacity: This seems to be Nobunaga's signature move, and to his credit, few people have the guts to take a stand against him. At least until his antics cause a conspiracy of two to kill him.
  • Sleep Paralysis Creature: The demon dagger rapes the protagonist this way in Nobunaga's route, though she doesn't realize that's what happened until it spells it out to her later.
  • Stock Shōnen Hero: Yukimura definitely gives off this vibe, being a Hot-Blooded warrior who is known to be a bit of a dolt when it comes to anything that isn't combat, and is willing to throw his life away to save his subordinates. Complete with really big hair.
  • The Strategist: Hanbei takes over this role, held by the protagonist's fiancé. Fittingly, he's also the only love interest to figure out that his memories aren't his own and that he's been pulled from a different world on his own.
