Fire Emblem: The Sun God's Wrath is a Game Mod of Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones produced by Blademaster. Initially conceived as The Sun God's Challenge and ultimately completed in 2020, this hack serves as a sequel of sorts to the ancient Corrupt Theocracy, one of the first custom ROM hacks to see completion. However, playing the original is absolutely not necessary, and even discouraged by the author himself.

Set on the continent of Chicomoztoc, this game follows the events of the World War, in which the titular Sun God's nation, Pyronia, was absorbed into the Elemental Republic to create a new country, Amatera. With the suspiciously familiar Sun God, Pyron, returning and seizing control of Amatera, the continent is once again at his mercy.

All is not lost. The country of Merv is home to a band of mercenaries known as Propater. When Amatera begins to encroach on Merv's land, Propater turns out to be the nation's best bet at stopping them. The narrative focuses on Astrea, daughter of high-ranking member Alice, as the fight against Amatera gets crazier and crazier, with monsters, dragons and betrayal alike. It won't be a war to forget.

Unique in its approach to balancing, The Sun God's Wrath borrows various mechanics from other games in the series, most notably capturing, Pursuit Critical Coefficients, stamina, and three-tier promotions. Gameplay revolves around sending powerful player characters against powerful enemies, and much like the games that inspire it, you'll be relying more on items you find and steal than those you'll buy in a shop.


Tropes in Fire Emblem: The Sun Gods Wrath:

  • Aerith and Bob: As is typical of any Fire Emblem material. Characters vary in commonality from Jenna, Jeff or Charles to names like Astrea, Daedalus or Iskander.
  • Crutch Character:
    • Temporary units are ones that join at max level, and thus cannot gain experience. They leave after completing their chapter but will give you their equipment before leaving.
    • In terms of actual units Janet is something of a combat-utility hybrid who joins in the second major arc and can actually gain experience, though her mediocre growths and lack of promotion mean her late-game potential is outmatched by anyone who can replicate her utility with better combat to boot.
  • The Magocracy: Cyra is a country almost exclusively run by mages, with a handful of exceptions.
  • Prison Episode: In Chapter 6, four of your soldiers get captured by the Earth Clan of Amatera, leaving you to rescue them.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Many of Ryu's dragons can't even shapeshift, but they still have this going for them.
  • Timed Mission: Several maps are like this, but almost every map that doesn't instead has fast and slow clear bonuses and penalties. Going too fast gives the player a rare item, while going too slow makes you lose some gold.
  • We Cannot Go On Without You: Whoever "you" is depends on the chapter, but characters like Astrea and Daedalus are almost always required to survive. Thankfully, the hint guides tell you outright what your Game Over conditions are before every chapter.
