"Dodgeball Acedamia" Tropes:
- Batter Up!: Suneko has a baseball bat, which is fitting for her trouble maker persona, she can use it for her Balltimate move as well.
- Cat Folk: Shoy is an anthropomorphic feline that sometimes found on all fours.
- Difficult, but Awesome:
- The various kinds of Near-Sighted Glasses reward players for staying close to the middle of the court, which makes it more difficult to dodge or counter any of the opponents’ balls. A few of them even apply a penalty for staying away from the center. Some character abilities, such as Otto’s Fiery Intimidation, have similar effects.
- The various pieces of listening device equipmentthose being… reward the player with higher strength if they never get hit. This effect is replicated by Kyabo’s I’ll Fight For You ability, only that has the added trade-off of lowering defense.
- Dub Name Change: Due to being A Lizard Named "Liz", Balloony’s name is changed in most languages to be a play on that language’s word for Balloon. For example, in spanish his name is Globerto.
- Heal It with Water: Balloony is capable of doing this with his Balltimate move. When seen doing this, water is around him and he can heal his teammates.
- Kamehame Hadoken: Otto is capable of doing this for his Balltimate move, he never really got it at first, but he gets it sooner than you’d think.
- Living Gasbag: Balloony (hence the name) is a guy with a balloon for a head.
- Our Goblins Are Different: Vampy is a goblin like creature who is very mischievous.
- Shock and Awe: Mina is capable of doing this with her Balltimate move, which is shooting dodgeballs to the sky and lighting comes down.
- Shout-Out: One of Otto’s abilities is called Fight For Your Friends.note
- Super Move Portrait Attack: Whenever a character does a Balltimate move, a portrait of themself is shown.
