Alex Danger Dice is a maze Scratch game created by British game developer Shad0wf1ame through his old Scratch account. It was released on February 29th, 2024. It follows the quest of Alex, a teenager with magical powers, to stop the destruction of the world in 6 days. It is playable at https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/839732160/ and a Turbowarp link is provided on the Scratch page.

Alex Danger Dice contains examples of:

  • Anti-Hero: Shadow. He begins the game working for the demons, and switches sides upon Alex gaining his respect.
  • Big Bad: Lord Hi-Tech on Day 1, however he is swiftly dispatched and replaced by Emperor Darkness on days 2-6, who is then replaced by Vectorces on the Flawed and Best routes.
  • Big Bad Ensemble:
    • Emperor Darkness, the stereotypical tyrant who wishes to destroy the world and demonize all of the people in it.
    • Eyeclops, the silent observer with unknown goals, who goes around to set the boss on you at the end of each world.
    • Vectorces, the psychopathic monster who wants to kill everyone.
    • Shadow, the Anti-Hero who serves as The Dragon and has unknown motives.
  • Climax Boss: Multiple bosses could be seen as this.
    • Mr DT in most routes, as he is the first regular boss that isn't a demon. He also has a unique boss theme.
    • Phantom Guardians. From Day 5 onwards, they will replace certain bosses and offer a more difficult fight, complete with a new boss theme. These must be defeated in order to get anything better than the Neutral Ending.
    • The battle with Emperor Darkness partway through the Phantom Fortress can be seen as this.
    • The battle with Vectorces in the DT Ark on the Best Ending route is the best example, as it is also part of a Heel–Face Turn.
  • Downer Ending: The Worst Ending. The DT Ark crashes into the island, completely obliterating it. Everyone is killed except the demons.
  • Final Boss: Emperor Darkness in the main game is the final compulsory boss to offer any challenge. Shadow is fought after him, but due to his fight's difficulty, he is entirely optional.
  • Gameplay Grading: At the end of every route except the Flawed route, the player recieves a grade.
    • The F Rank (Failure) is seen before the Worst Ending, and has an image of Alex driven into the ground by a massive letter F, showing how badly you've failed. To add insult to injury, "Your Fat Ass Slows You Down" from Pizza Tower plays during this scene.
    • The E Rank (Pathetic) is seen if the player sleeps from Day 1 right up until 11:55 PM of Day 6, and then achieves the Bad Ending. In this, Shadow remarks how he thought the player wanted to save the world, as Alex hangs off a giant letter E.
    • The D Rank (Awful) is seen if the player did not fully complete either objective in the 6 days. This shows Alex crying, and Shadow playing a sarcastic fanfare on a trumpet.
    • The C Rank (Bad) is seen if the player completed one objective, and did not start the other. This shows Alex standing there silently as Shadow laughs at them.
    • The B Rank (Ok) is seen if the player completed one objective and started the other. This shows Alex smiling and Shadow looking grumpy.
    • The A Rank (Nice) is seen if the player completed both objectives. This shows Alex smirking triumphantly as Shadow screams in outrage.
    • The S Rank (Perfect) is seen if the player completes both objectives and defeats Shadow. This shows Alex and Shadow playing electric guitar together with sunglasses on.
    • The X Rank is seen at the end of the Last Story. This shows Alex destroy the Phantom Fortress entirely!
  • Golden Ending: The Best Ending. Emperor Darkness is sealed within the Phantom Crystal, Vectorces is killed, Eyeclops has vanished, Shadow has redeemed himself and the world is saved.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Shadow in the Last Story. Upon Alex gaining his respect, he faces the insane Vectorces twice, and defeats him.
  • Later-Installment Weirdness: While the previous games featured Alex progressing through the levels in order, this one features a time mechanic, and making Alex replay previous stages and face new opponents to unlock better endings.
  • Leitmotif: Several characters have these.
    • Mr DT - Meta Knight's Revenge is reused from the second game.
    • Lord Hi-Tech - King Dedede's Theme returns as well, along with Dr Eggman's themes from the original Sonic trilogy during Day 1.
    • Shadow - The Noble Haltmann while he's still sided with the demons, and Supporting Me after his Heel–Face Turn are used, along with I Am...All Of Me in the Flawed route.
    • Vectorces - Hill.gym and Chaos Angel Zone.
    • Greenville - The Clock Town themes from Majora's Mask are used.
  • Multiple Endings: The game features 6 endings to get, 4 of which must be recieved to unlock the path to the Best Ending.
  • Recurring Riff: Live and Learn from Sonic Adventure 2 appears multiple times in this game. It plays at the end of World 6, and returns in the final phase of the battle against Emperor Darkness. An orchestrated version is used for the final phase of the True Final Boss at the end of the Last Story.
  • Shout-Out: Each character is based on a character from another game.
    • Alex is based on Meat Boy and Kirby, each from their own series.
    • Mr DT is based on Dr Fetus, Dr Eggman and Meta Knight from the Super Meat Boy, Sonic The Hedgehog and Kirby series respectively.
    • Lord Hi-Tech is based on King Dedede, even down to him being possessed for most of the main story.
    • Iron Cat is based on Metal Sonic from the Sonic The Hedgehog series.
    • Emperor Darkness is based on Marx and Nightmare from the Kirby series.
    • Vectorces is based on the Biolizard from Sonic The Hedgehog and his alternate forms are based on Devil Doom and the Finalhazard.
    • Eyeclops is based on Magolor from Kirby.
    • Shadow is based on Shadow the Hedgehog and Darkspine Sonic from Sonic.
    • The main game sequence resembles the 3 day cycle from Majora's Mask.
    • The first 3 phases of the True Final Boss have the same music as the final boss of Sonic.exe: The Spirits of Hell.
    • Lord Hi-Tech and Tails in Sonic.exe: The Spirits of Hell both say the same thing before clinging on to a robot and shooting the enemy.
  • Sliding Scale of Endings: In order of worst to best, Worst, Flawed, Bad, Neutral, Good, Best.
  • The Starscream: Vectorces in the Flawed and Best endings, sealing Emperor Darkness within the Phantom Crystal and becoming Phantom Vectorces in the Best, and outright killing Darkness and becoming Nitro Vectorces in the Flawed ending.
  • Triumphant Reprise: During the second phase of the Shadow battle, the music becomes more melancholic, as an instrumental version of Supporting Me plays, signifying Shadow's internal conflict. Later on, after his Heel–Face Turn in the Last Story, a metal cover with fitting lyrics plays as Shadow single-handedly breaks out of the illusion, deals a whopping 8 million points of damage to an otherwise unbeatable boss, blows up the machine Vectorces is using to control the Ark, and tosses the mangled wreck of Vectorces out of the room, forcing him to fall at least from the top of a mountain, at most from space itself.
  • True Final Boss: Phantom Vectorces. This battle features every character you've met on your journey all working together to defeat him. He's only fought at the very end of the Last Story.
  • Unstoppable Rage: Mr DT in the Last Story. He realises multiple times he's failed to truly save his world, and flies into a fury. He charges into the Phantom Fortress, punches out an army of 50 demons, defeats Eyeclops, then enters his battleship and destroys the fortress completely.
  • Video Game Cruelty Potential: On the first day, in World 1, you will be greeted with the friendly guide Steve, who will provide commentary on your actions. However, if you grow tired of him, you can always sock him in the face. Doing this will launch him into the sky, and force you to watch as he flies away. A sarcastic fanfare will play, and you will get a notification calling you out for what you've done to your well-meaning friend.
  • You Bastard!: The game will call you out for punching Steve.
    • Notification: [sarcastically] Congratulations! You just beat up your defenceless guide! Well done!!
