Trivia / The Rundown

Go To

  • Acclaimed Flop: Failed to make its budget back, yet gained a 70% in Rotten Tomatoes, a stunning rating for this kind of flick.
  • Actor Allusion:
  • California Doubling: The crew wanted to film in Brazil... and had their stuff stolen by natives, leading to filming in Hawaii. Though they try to be convincing, starting with crates and ads of local beer and shields of local soccer teams.
  • Cast the Expert: In the opening club scene, the football players are played by former baseball player Stephen Bishop (Knappmiller) and several former NFL members, including Jeff Chase and Jamal Duff.
  • The Danza: Jamal Duff as footballer Jamal Johnson.
  • Market-Based Title: The film became Welcome to the Jungle in most other regions, except in Spanish-speaking countries, where it was retitled The Amazonas Treasure instead.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • That "Tooth Fairy" speech? It was supposed to be a Winnie the Pooh speech. "I WANT THAT BEAR'S ASS OUTTA MY WINDOW!!!"
    • Also, a narrowly avoided What Could Have Been in the "Oompa-Loompa" line. Walken originally refused to say it... because he hadn't read/seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and did not grasp the concept of the Oompa-Loompa.
  • Working Title: Helldorado, which still appears in a vandalized sign.
