Lt. Willowmore, as played by Bill Gunn, may well be the first African-American astronaut in television history.
- Prop Recycling: An Ebonite suit was reused for the Anderan Senator's costume in "Fun and Games". The Senator was kept in shadow to hide this as much as possible.
- Those Two Actors: David Frankham (Captain Brookman) and Ben Wright (General Benton) both voiced characters in 101 Dalmatians; they played Sergeant Tibbs and Roger, respectively.
- Wright also did more voice work for both Disney (as Rama in The Jungle Book (1967) and Grimsby in The Little Mermaid (1989)) and The Outer Limits (1963) (he voiced the aliens in "Moonstone" and "A Feasibility Study)".
- What Could Have Been: Joseph Stefano's original script (which has the Working Title "Ebon Struck First") includes several minor differences from the the finished episode, along with one major change: it's Stone, not Brookman, who kills the Chief of Staff at the end.
