• The Cast Showoff: Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin and Carlos Valdes, along with Arrowverse guest stars Melissa Benoist, John Barrowman, Victor Garber and Jeremy Jordan, get to show off their musical theatre skills.
• Irony as She Is Cast:
  • Tom Cavanagh also has a musical theater background but never got a solo.
  • Darren Criss, who plays the Music Meister, also has a musical theater background and also never got a solo, though he does take part in a group musical number, "Put a Little Love in Your Heart," and sings a couple of bars of it on his own at the end.
• I Want You to Meet an Old Friend of Mine:
  • As already mentioned above, the episode has a good number of Glee alumns, plus the episode's choreography was done by that show's former choreographer.
  • Jesse L. Martin and Jeremy Jordan worked on Smash previously.
  • Darren Criss and Carlos Valdes both worked on Team StarKid shows and both wrote the music for some of them.
• Queer Character, Queer Actor: Prof. Stein's musical world doppelganger is gay, much like Victor Garber.
