• Dueling Dubs: There's two Latin American Spanish dubs: One done in Mexico and another one done in Miami, FL exclusively for USA Network in the States.^note This is was done for two reasons: Mexicans really doesn't like watching movies or TV series featuring mostly Mexican characters being dubbed by other Spanish speakers. Under normal circumstances, the Miami dub would be the only dub used in the whole continent on the grounds of being cheaper, but considering the topic of the series and the Mexican setting, a Mexican dub was made as well. Another reason is for doing another dub is for copyright reasons, as the dubbing rights belongs to USA Network in the U.S.
• Fake American: James, who's Mexican American, is played by British actor Peter Gadiot (who's of Dutch/Mexican descent).
• Fake Nationality: Teresa and Brenda, both Mexican characters, are played by Brazilian Alice Braga and American Justina Machado, respectively. Also, Mexican politician Epifanio Vargas is played by Portuguese actor Joaquim de Almeida.
• Multiple Languages, Same Voice Actor: Alice Braga dubbed over herself in the Brazilian version... but only for the first season, after which Teresa had to get another voice.
• Real Life Writes the Plot:
  • Brenda is killed off in the first-season finale because Justina Machado landed a starring role on Netflix's One Day at a Time reboot.
  • James disappears for most of the fourth season because Peter Gadiot was filming Velvet Buzzsaw.
