Trivia / Queen of the Wave

  • Bad Export for You: Limited Export For You? In the UK, the album was released on CD, vinyl, as an mp3 download, and as a "Deluxé Edition" with 2 CDs and a DVD. In the US, only the mp3 download and the Deluxé Edition were released.
  • Extremely Lengthy Creation: A rare example involving a single song. Pepe Deluxé wrote the song "In the Cave" specifically for The Great Stalacpipe Organ. When they found out that said organ was undergoing repairs and couldn't be used, they simply waited—six years—until it was again available. This resulted in Queen of the Wave being delayed for about two years—all so that a two-minute song could be played on exactly the right instrument.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Guitar Cobra recorded a video of herself playing a heavy metal cover of the guitar solo from "The Storm". Pepe Deluxé liked the video so much, they re-uploaded it to their own youtube account, then included that video on the Queen of the Wave: Deluxé Edition DVD.
  • Serendipity Writes the Plot: "In the Cave" was originally intended to appear on the previous album, Spare Time Machine, which had no overarching concept. The delay mentioned under Doing It For The Art made PD decide to work "In the Cave" into album #4 instead. The song wound up fitting perfectly with the concept of Queen of the Wave, because the novel that inspired the album actually features a scene with an organ recital in an auditorium modeled after the interior of a cave.
