Trivia / Pinocchio (2012)

Go To

  • Celebrity Voice Actor: The 2018 US release features Johnny Orlando as Pinocchio, Ambyr Childers and Jon Heder as the Fox and the Cat respectively.
  • Dueling Dubs: There are two English dubs. The first one was produced in Canada that same year, and was released in the UK as well as internationally in 2013. Then in 2018, it was partially redubbed by celebrities courtesy of Lionsgate and was released in the US specifically.
  • In Memoriam: The film is dedicated to Lucio Dalla, who died of a heart attack on March 1st, 2012. He wrote the film's original soundtrack and has a small role as the Green Fisherman.
  • Late Export for You: The film was released in 2012, but the film won't be released in the US until 2018 when it was distributed by Lionsgate. Of course, Americans still could've seen the English dubbed version from Canada.
  • Real-Life Relative: Mino Caprio is the voice of Geppetto, while his son, Gabriele Caprio, is the voice of Pinocchio.
  • Role Reprise: Mino Caprio had already voiced Geppetto in Welcome Back Pinocchio.
  • What Could Have Been: This initial teaser has some elements that are different from the movie proper.
    • The log that is used to carve Pinocchio is revealed to have come from Mangiafuoco's cart.
    • The Fairy with Turquoise Hair seems to be a regular human that has literal turquoise hair instead of an ethereal being, and at one point, she appears side-by-side with Geppetto when she holds up a mirror to show Pinocchio he's become a real boy. In the final version, she has dark blue sparkly hair, wears a classic white dress, and remains a fairy complete with the stereotypical glow associated with fairies.
    • The Fox had a male voice, but is female in the final version. Interestingly, their design remains the same.
    • The Talking Cricket seems to have a more prominent role, à la Disney's Jiminy Cricket, before deciding to stick to his original role from the book where he only appears in two scenes.
    • Pinocchio is chased into the sea by Alidoro before being swallowed immediately by the Terrible Dogfish. In the movie, there's a large gap between those two events (this could be chalked up to the trailer's editing though).
