Trivia / Papa Louie Arcade

Go To

  • Creator's Favorite: Tony Solary has stated that "Little" Edoardo Romano is his favorite character out of the series' cast.
  • Diagnosis of God: Tony actually confirmed that Austin is autistic.
  • He Also Did: While most of Flipline's other games like Cactus McCoy and Jacksmith are of similar nature to Papa Louie Arcade, one that sticks out is a video game adaptation of The Expendables that's similar to action games from The '80s, both in terms of gameplay and aesthetic.
  • Meaningful Release Date: Bakeria, which is themed around pies, was released on Pi Day (3/14).
  • Release Date Change: Albeit unintentionally. Both the iOS and Android versions of Paleteria were scheduled to release on the 7th of March 2024. While the iOS version was released on time, the Android version was delayed by 4 days due to an unknown issue with Google Play's authentication process.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Before the conception of Pizzeria (and, within the platformers, When Burgers Attack!), the initial planned follow-up to When Pizzas Attack! was a more episodic, plot-driven game in which the player plays as Sarge rebuilding his army of onions following his defeat by Papa. In 2019, Flipline posted a decent information about the game on its blog, and released a shelved demo of the game. Much of its content was reused later, including (but not limited to):
      • The unused Rocket Onions' design was the basis for Boomer's creation.
      • The Jellybacks were first drafted for this game before making their proper debut in When Burgers Attack!.
      • Rather than being the new Big Bad Sarge is Demoted to Dragon for in When Burgers Attack!, Radley Madish was meant to be the first of three bosses he would fight against in the game.
    • A coffeehouse-themed game was planned, but due to difficulties with figuring out the gameplay style and the potentially bland ingredient palette, it was scrapped... and then unscrapped as Mocharia.
    • As explained here, Taco Mia! was supposed to have you prepare large batches of meat ahead of time and pour it into the tacos like you would the toppings, which is how real taco shops often prepare them. Since it undermined the games' typical multitasking gameplay, this was changed to the final system of cooking single pans of meat for each taco, and then instantly dumping it into the shell to the topping station.
    • A few attempts were made at giving Big Pauly a special dynamic of his own in the gamerias. Concept art of Pizzeria shows that he was meant to give an award if his order was served well (which would later make its way into Taco Mia! with Jojo's Blue Ribbon). The creators have also mentioned that they tried to make his order double the size of other costumers for Cupcakeria and Donuteria (i.e. have him order four cupcakes and six donuts, respectively).
  • Word of Gay:
  • Write What You Know: In a Facebook and Instagram post, Tony Solary stated that Oilseed Springs, the setting of Cluckeria, was based on the town of Deadwood, South Dakota, which he took a road trip to prior to the game's development. He also used several similar towns in the US as additional visual references.
  • Write Who You Know:
    • Doan was designed after Doan Buu, a college friend of Matt Neff and Tony Solary.
    • Georgito was based on the persona of a friend of Tony named George. Tony has elaborated about him in a blog post:
"George was always persistent about me making him a customer. Not only a customer but a wealthy customer."
    • Likewise, Johnny was named after John, another friend of Tony who "would always playtest [Flipline's] games as soon as they were released."
    • According to Matt, Brody was based on "random dudes [me and Tony] knew in art school."
