Trivia / Jo, Zette and Jocko

Go To

  • Banned Episode: The Manitoba and Karamako albums are barely available in English, due to the very offensively stereotypical depiction of a black native Cannibal Tribe.
  • Creator Backlash: Hergé cancelled the series permanently after five albums, because the children couldn't travel anywhere without their parents coming along with them.
  • Executive Meddling: The series was created because the executives of the catholic magazine Cœurs vaillants wanted heroes in the image of their readers: children with a mother and a father, unlike Tintin, who has no family.
  • Referenced by...:
    • In The Valley of the Cobras, Jo and Zette stay in a fictional ski station named Vargèse, the same where Tintin will stay in Tintin - Tintin in Tibet.
    • In The Castafiore Emerald, the eponymous Milanese Nightingale mentions that the gossip press once (incorrectly) announced her engagement to the Maharajah of Gopal.
    • In the Spirou & Fantasio album Le Groom Vert-de-Gris, a re-imagination of Spirou set during the Nazi occupation of 1942, several references are made to other Belgian Comics from this time period, including Tintin, Blondin et Cirage, Suske en Wiske, Quick and Flupke and Jo, Zette and Jocko.
    • In one Cowboy Henk story, Henk meets Jo, Zette and Jocko and invites them to leave their series before an adventure occurs.
