• Follow the Leader: This show was a mixture of formulas. While it designs itself more akin to the You Meddling Kids shows like Scooby-Doo, the plots mostly stray to the side of the likes of The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show sitcom style.
  • Corey is the standardized leader like Fred, while Henry is more the cowardly buddy like Shaggy. Jeannie and Babu however don't really fill into previous molds as much, outside of Jeannie sharing Daphne's build.
  • One could compare Babu for his having faulty powers and some cowardice which while true of other HB characters no one really fills a role to their show like Babu does to his.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: Due to legal issues, the series was never released on DVD. Some episodes are available online, but with the wrong episode names. There were also plans to reuse the Jeannie character in other Hanna-Barbera productions that had to be shelved (she and Babu were to be teammates for the Scooby Doobies on Laff-A-Lympics; Babu was the only one retained for it). This even applied to Jellystone! decades later; since Sony owns the show now, the writers had to replace Babu with Shazzan instead.
• Recycled Script: Many episodes of the cartoon are complete copies of episodes from the original show, in particular "The Wish" for the original's "Haven't I Seen My Face Before".
• Star-Making Role: Jeannie was this for Julie McWhirter.
