- Creator's Favorite: Jack Horner was supposed to be written off after the Jack Be Nimble story arc. But Shelly Bond "sweet-talked" Willingham into putting him into a separate spin-off instead. Bond's reason? Jack Horner was her favorite.
- Inspiration for the Work: Willingham named a number of Fairy Tale Free-for-All stories as inspiring the series, including Into the Woods and The 10th Kingdom.
- What Could Have Been: The identity of the Adversary was originally planned to be Peter Pan until Willingham learned the character wasn't in the public domain. With the series' return in 2022, #151 and #152 are implying that Peter Pan was in fact the power behind Geppetto the whole time.
- Writer Revolt: A massive one, as in fall of 2023, Willingham declared that the series was in the public domain in response to increasing friction with DC and not having the years or energy left in him to bother with a lawsuit.
