• Acting for Two: Ian McShane plays both Tree and Colonel Butler.
• The Danza: Zulu plays Zulu.
• Follow the Leader: Hawaii Five-O was popular at the time. Zulu actually appeared in that show for its first three years; he appeared on Diamond Head due to a pay dispute with Hawaii Five-O, and the new show proved the perfect opportunity to exert some clout, since as a character actor, Zulu's range was limited. They also had other Hawaii Five-O guest stars — Harry Endo (Dr. En-Ping) played the recurring character of Che Fong; Don Knight (H.K. Muldoon), Eric Braeden (Ernest Graeber), and France Nuyen (Tso-Tsing) made several guest appearances; and Morton Stevens composed the theme and score for this pilot as well.
• He Also Did: Jeannot Szwarc is a prolific television director best-known for directing the TV movie-like Jaws 2. Though he also did Somewhere in Time, Santa Claus: The Movie, and Supergirl (1984) - the latter two ensured his American directing career would remain in TV thereafter.
