Trivia / Batman: The Musical

Go To

  • Creator Backlash: According to some reports, Tim Burton was supposed to direct this musical, as it was supposedly based on his film adaptations. When it was cancelled, Tim has since played down his involvement with the show, as in one interview, he admitted that he was indeed offered to direct the show, but his first thought was "Oh no, Batman On Ice", which could suggest that this were misreports and that he was never on board with it, especially considering that he has previously stated that with some exceptions, he is not really a fan of the musical genre.
  • Cut Song: Per usual for a Steinman production, it's made mostly of these, though with the exception of "Angels Arise" it's more fragments of trunk songs than the full things. "Graveyard Shift" includes bits of "Edging Into Darkness" from Steinman's 1970s musical version of The Confidence-Man and "Nowhere Fast" from Streets of Fire.
    • The guitar riff and chorus of Catwoman's song ("And I need all the love I can get/And I need all the love that I can't get to(o)") are reused from "More" by The Sisters of Mercy, Steinman having worked with as a Record Producer on its parent album and being listed as a co-writer on the song. (Talk about Self-Plagiarism...)
  • What Could Have Been: The entire musical is one big old example of this, given that it was cancelled during production. The main page goes into more detail about its fate.
