Trivia / Babe: Pig in the City

Go To

  • Early Draft Tie-In: The novelization of the film contains several scenes that were cut from the final product, such as Esme's dress shattering from being drenched in glue (which explains why she has to wear the clown costume) and the chefs in the ballroom pulling on Esme's clown shoes (which is also a Missing Trailer Scene).
  • Franchise Killer: Ended the Babe franchise after only two films, with a widely-panned isometric video game adaptation of the franchise released in 2006 for the PlayStation 2 ensuring its demise.
  • Missing Episode: A whole bunch of scenes were cut to get a G rating.
  • Missing Trailer Scene: The chefs in the ballroom pulling on Esme's clown shoes, which would've explained how they suddenly went missing later in the sequence.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • E.G. Daily replaces Christine Cavanaugh as Babe. Coincidentally enough, both voice actresses starred on Rugrats (Cavanaugh as Chuckie, Daily as Tommy). This was a few years before Cavanaugh's retirement, and was actually replaced because of salary disagreements. Nonetheless, she still gave Daily her support.note
    • The same happens in the Mexican Spanish dub, since Babe's original voice actor (Enzo Fortuny) had become too old to reprise the role.
  • Portrayed by Different Species: Portrayed by different breed, in the case of the dog referred to as a pit bull - it's actually a bull terrier.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The film was originally going to be a lot darker and more violent, originally either PG-13 or R-rated. Many scenes were cut, shortened, or trimmed, including more graphic shots from Arthur Hoggett's well accident, the Pitbull's drowning scene which lasted much longer originally, the reveal the hospital was a Vivisection Research Lab, and some more particularly violent and inappropriate slapstick moments in the ballroom scene (Esme's shoes being stretched as she is violently spun around the ballroom by angry chefs).
    • The character played by Mickey Rooney, Fugly Floom, had a larger role originally in the film, but almost all of his screentime was greatly reduced due to how creepy, gross, and sinister he was.
