Trivia / Arata: The Legend

Go To

  • Creator's Oddball: This is Watase's first foray into shonen manga, as opposed to the shojo series she's best known for (and Sakura Gari, which is a josei BL series).
  • Executive Meddling: Yuu Watase revealed during the making of the Suzukura Arc, her editor during that time (named "Mr. I") constantly ordered her to redraw pages and story the way he wanted and not by how Watase planned, because he didn't understand her ideas and thought Viewers Are Morons. Not only did this exhaust Watase to meet the deadline, but almost lead to a Creator Breakdown as she considered quitting drawing manga. Thankfully, "Mr I" was replaced by a new editor who was more understanding and didn't interfere in Watase's work since the Yataka Arc.
  • Portmanteau Series Nickname: AraKan, as stated by Yuu Watase herself at the end of the third Viz volume.
  • Rewrite: Since the settlement of her Executive Meddling problem, Watase’s publisher allowed her to rewrite and redraw this story completely from scratch, to which the rewritten version is published as Arata: The Legend (Arata Kangatari)—Remastered Edition.
  • Series Hiatus: The manga has gone on some lengthy hiatuses; it first went on hiatus from 2014 to 2015, and then went on hiatus again from 2015 to 2021. This is largely due to personal issues such as Watase dealing with depression.

Alternative Title(s): Arata Kangatari
