• If the show is reminiscent of Drunk History, it should be: director Jeremy Konner was Drunk History's co-creator and writer.
• The Other Darrin: Eldest sister Hortense was recast after the pilot episode and again at the beginnings of seasons 2 and 3. It's reached the point where it is practically a Running Gag.
  • Artemis Pebdani played her in the pilot.
  • Lauren Ash played the role in the rest of Season 1.
  • Lauren Flans took over the role in Season 2. (According to this interview, the creators originally hired someone completely different to be the Season 2 Hortense but were overruled by the network, making Lauren Flans technically the fourth Hortense.
  • Season 3 replaced Hortense's actress yet again, this time with Donna Lynne Champlin.
• Production Posse: Several actors- Michael Ian Black, Beth Dover, Natasha Leggero, and Armen Weitzman- who played main characters in Burning Love now star in this series.
• Reality Subtext: Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci hate each other in the show with Lindhome's character stabbing Micucci's character in the eye. Obviously ironic as the two are the musical pair Garfunkel and Oates.
