  • Velnorte and Rinyuu's story. Velnorte intended to make the Scarlet Elixir as a cure for all illnesses, all so he could heal Rinyuu's blindness. However, an accident with the Scarlet Elixir ended up taking someone's life. Velnorte then ended up blackmailed by Tytos. After Tytos is defeated by The Chosen One, he pulls a Taking You with Me on Velnorte. It is then when Rinyuu's blindness is cured... But the entirety of Tytos' blackmail towards Velnorte was a scheme of Rinyuu's False Friend Ceraphina and the overall Big Bad Lyblac to use Rinyuu, who was an illegitimate child of Graham Crossford, to resurrect Galdera. Then Sazantos resurrects Velnorte, whose soul was corrupted by Galdera. Velnorte kills Rinyuu, but at least Rinyuu purifies Velnorte's soul. The only comfort is that they're now Together in Death and that Kit will, albeit unknowingly, continue Rinyuu's legacy as her stepbrother.
  • While Sonia is greedy to the point she'd betray Bargello, with whom she was implied to have a fling, her death is sad, as it shows her and Bargello rekindling their feelings. Her soul is then corrupted by Galdera, if what happened when Sazantos revived her is any indication.
  • While Herminia is an unlikable individual, she has an awfully tragic past. She was denied her share of her father's wealth by her sisters, and while she found love with a lord, she was forced to sleep with a wealthy mafia boss, which drove that lord to suicide. This made Herminia believe that money can buy anything, even love. When Herminia dies, she's Dying Alone surrounded by money that couldn't save her, a sad death indeed.
  • While Auguste/Schwartz is an unlikable individual given what he does, he is aware and horrified by how much he is willing to do terrible things, and wanted The Chosen One to kill him. At the very least, it earns him a shred of pity.
  • Elrica and Mahrez. The two just got married, and Mahrez is betrayed by his father-in-law, King Pardis. Elrica tries to avenge him, only for Pardis to kill her as well on the same spot she got married. Worse, The Chosen One and Elrica's sister Alaune are Forced to Watch. And then their souls are corrupted by Galdera, if what happened when Sazantos revived them is any indication. At the very least, the two are now Together in Death.
  • Ceraphina is a Tragic Villain. She was close to her grandfather Salomon, but because he opened The Gate Of Finis and accidently let Lyblac loose, he was blamed and executed despite being coerced into opening the gate. Worse, the villagers of Berecain tried to kill her simply for being a relative of Salomon, despite that she had no involvement in his actions outside of being a hostage. This made her lose her faith in humanity and made her want to become a goddess so she could avenge her grandfather. However, she was an Unwitting Pawn for Lyblac. At the very least, The Chosen One restored Ceraphina's faith in humanity at the last moment.
  • Sazantos' past certainly explains well why he feels he has a justified reason for deciding to remove mankind's desires. He was a Child by Rape who never knew his mother, was raised for his entire life to be the leader of the Knights Ardante, and saw endless suffering while being unable to do anything. After seeing all the evils man did due to wanting things, he decided enough was enough, and he had to do something. Considering he was a staunch ally, the fact he goes to such extremes is a sad sight to witness after everything the player has experienced.
  • The corrupted revenants are souls corrupted by Galdera after their deaths. We have Mahrez, Sonia, Velnorte, Elrica, Tytos, Auguste and Herminia as corrupted souls. While Rinyuu does purify Velnorte, the others aren't. Given how all the corrupted renevants that are fought (in other words, all but Velnorte) are screaming in agony, it's made clear they've been subjected to a Fate Worse than Death.
    • It gets worse in the English version, which outright states that the corrupted souls are fought in hell. Yes, you heard right: Elrica and Mahrez, two of the nicest characters in the game, were condemned to hell. As if you couldn't hate Pardis even more (given how he's the one who killed them, it's likely he condemned them to hell as well).
  • Sazantos attempts to pull a We Can Rule Together on The Chosen One by showing What Could Have Been. The world Sazantos shows is a paradise: Herminia's sisters never gave in their greed, which prevented Herminia's Start of Darkness; Sonia never lost her family's grape farm and is shown living happily with Bargello and his gang. Which includes Oskha, who apparently was fully replaced by his Tiziano persona. Tytos is much more humble and Ceraphina's grandfather never unlocked the Gate of Finis, which allows Velnorte to properly concoct his Scarlet Elixir and cure Rinyuu's blindness; and while Velnorte is considered a villain in the real world, here he's considered a genius. Auguste never became a split personality, instead being simply Schwartz's stage name, and he and Francesca are Happily Married and Good Parents to Mikhail. Elrica and Mahrez are themselves Happily Married, and the Ravuses were never betrayed. Unfortunately for them all, since this game is a prequel, his plans and suggestions are doomed to fail, even if the characters could have accepted it.
