• In the first chapter, Colton spits on a fellow student and says he's supposed to melt when a Hydralisk spits on him. A later aside also reveals that Ben is a big Craftstar fan.
• In the flashback to Gray's middle school days, one of the students wants to visit an internet café to play some PUBG.
• In their friendship montage, Gray and Stephen are seen playing Takkan 7, with Gray using Hechihai.
• When bullying a fat student, Bryce jokes that he must have eaten a Gum Gum Fruit to get such stretchy fat. Later on, Jake Ji is seen reading Two Piece.
• When Eugene laments his stupidity after he signs up for cram school, the artstyle shifts so that Eugene resembles a character from the despair-heavy Kaiji.
• Grape's design and name are a reference to fellow webtoon Strangers From Hell. His Korean name (이공삼) can be read "203", which was Seo Moon-jo's dorm number in the original webtoon, and his large dark pupils and puffy hair are reminiscent of Kim Yong-ki's artstyle.
• A picture that Gerard texts to Alex references Once Upon a Time in High School, which is also about a transfer student having to deal with their new, sadistic school environment.
• Alex and Ben make fun of each other's (lack of) guitar skills, leading Ben to strangle Alex. The artstyle shifts so they resemble Simpsons characters, in reference to Homer infamously strangling Bart as a Running Gag.
• After Bryce mocks Stephen for his low exam score, Stephen takes to the books while jokingly telling Jarvis to activate study mode.
• Episode 107 starts with a dramatic face-off between Ben and some pigeons, which he scares away by emulating a Haoh Shoko Ken.
• The webtoon contains multiple references to Korea's music scene. Jake and Dean are modelled after Zico and DΞΔN respectively, and the pool hall receptionist has her looks compared to Bae Suji. Eugene also references Haon's music when trying to cheer up Teddy.
