Creatures Fantastic is a 1997 BBC/Discovery Channel series produced by Dorling Kindersley Vision (Eyewitness and Amazing Animals), about various myths and the animals within them, and how they relate to the natural world. Zoë Wanamaker narrates the series.
- Cats Are Magic: "Mythical Cats" is about this.
- Darker and Edgier: Compared to the other DK Vision projects, there's a lot more in the way of dark imagery and myths featured. Hell, there aren't any of their signature white backgrounds.
- Our Sphinxes Are Different: Both the Egyptian Sphinx and the Grecian Sphinx are the first featured in "Mythical Cats".
- Medusa: One appears in "Man Beasts".
- Non-Indicative Name: It's not just creatures in the conventional sense that are featured, but myths in general, hence episodes with topics like "The Apocalypse" and "The Underworld".
- Riddling Sphinx: The myth of Oedipus and the Sphinx is mentioned in "Mythical Cats".
- Satan: The Underworld focuses on hell and shows the devil himself.
- Things That Go "Bump" in the Night: Creatures Of The Night focuses on nighttime creatures (i.e. Ghosts, Vampires and Witches.)
