Ephemeral Ecstasy is a modern fantasy/science fiction roleplay found on the Gaia Online Roleplay forum. The main thread can be found here.
Ephemeral Ecstasy contains examples of:
- Absent Aliens: No aliens are present in Mars.
- Aerith and Bob: Gavin and Alexander vs everyone else (with mashed names straight out of an Elven dictionary.)
- After the End: Earth has been destroyed, due to the core leaking.
- The Ageless: Aine's age can be the sum of four or five of the other characters.
- A God Am I: Subverted. Despite Aine's love and ability for battle (and her sadistic personality) she is completely dependent on Councilman Anders' orders.
- All Deserts Have Cacti: The Shifting Sands has cacti.
- Badass in a Nice Suit: Alexander wears a suit.
- Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: All the females, whether they know it or not.
- Big Damn Heroes: It'll happen a lot, just you watch.
- Broken Bird: Eve is just a badass.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Aine versus the Ogres.
- Combat Stilettos: Eve enjoys her high heels, and she won't hesitate to stomp your face.
- The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: The entire npc cast is comprised of titans.
- Death by Irony: Khyber's nameless friend is consumed by the kacilite drug in an attempt to raise his social status through force. Khyber, who tries to save his friend, ends up destroying him after the boy is transformed into a hellion — a beast completely extracted from any social ladder in Epsum.
- The End of the World as We Know It: Clearly stated for when the casts for Mars and Epsum meet.
- Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: Ironically inverted.
- Khyber's faceclaim, Lelouch, plays this trope straight while Khyber reenacts his 'angelic' appearance perfectly.
- Ignored Epiphany: Rhys realizes he's a terrible person after killing a Rhaegon's little daughter. Then he gets on his with his life.
- Leaked Experience: Nerys is literally treated like a sack of flour being slung across Rhaegon's back in an Over-the-Shoulder Carry, but he keeps her arms free to make certain her aid is unhindered.
- Mecha-Mooks: On Mars.
- Modest Royalty: Nerys because she can be.
- Psycho for Hire: Because even though the money's good, sometimes the killing is the best part. And that's when Rhys likes to break out his Evil Laugh.
- Psycho Serum: The kalicite drug is the perfect example. Let's corrupt your mind in exchange for power!
- Superpowered Evil Side is also played straight with several of Rhaegon's attacks.
- Suicide Mission: Epsum's world saving mission.
- Heroic Sacrifice also explicitly or openly planned implied.
