Mansion is a roleplay thread set in the Character Development Thread universe.

In the wild marshes, there is a mansion. A strange place, whose owner, for reasons not freely shared, has decided to let guests stay and socialize here. The various heroes, villains, and miscellany denizens of the multiverse find their way here by many paths. Some come by invitation by the mysterious host, some stumble upon it by accident, and some just find themselves drawn here by the strings of fate.

The thread can be found here. It started in January of 2013, and came to a conclusion in September.

Mansion contains examples of:

  • Cheerful Child: Tamara's general disposition is a cheery one.
  • Clockwork Creature: Mostly found in the Kitchen, Dining Room, and Sparring Room — close examination will reveal they are actually nanite colonies masquerading as clockwork.
  • Cool House: Pretty much the whole point, starting from it defiantly being built in a swamp and going from there.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: Anne and Grimhilde, though both were rather quick to adapt. Ulrich as well, although his reactions to all the newfangled developments remain to be seen.
  • Incredibly Lame Pun: Alice suggests there's a special level in Hell for those who make these, before making one herself.
  • Magical Library: The mansions library contains all kinds of information and it's mysteriously easy to find what you are looking for. It seems to lack The Hunger Games and the Twilight books, which is kind of magical too.
  • Most Writers Are Human: The prevalence of humans from Earth and Earth-like civilizations is occasionally lampshaded and explored, although some characters come with explanations. invoked
  • One-Winged Angel: Grimhilde scales up to battle Aseyu. It doesn't work.
  • Robot Maid: The clockwork creatures are an apparently non-sentient, and clearly non-communicative, version.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Some people react more to the harsh appearances of certain characters (Samira, Markus, Kokabiel, and Anne most prominently) than others.
