Films — Live-Action

  • In Color Me Perfect, the two chimps the gene therapy was tested on are named Laverne and Shirley.
  • In Scary Movie, there's David Lander's Actor Allusion with his character's name, Principal "Squiggy" Squiggman. Not only that, his haistyle is the same, and he has a Shotz Beer poster on his wall.

Live-Action TV

  • Mad TV did a parody of the show where the titular characters are bulimic and their dates drug them and try to rape them. Lenny and Squiggy get rid of the dates, but then it's implied that they raped the gals themselves.
  • Mork & Mindy:
    • The pilot episode had Mork unsuccessfully dating Laverne.
    • In "Putting the Ork Back in Mork", the Orkan Elder is trying to get Mork to say, "Shazbot!" by hitting his head, but instead, he says other bizarre things. One of them mentions moving Laverne and Shirley to a different time slot.
  • Waynes World had a parody of the intro, which involved two guys re-creating it in drag.
  • Sam & Cat had Marshall and Williams appear as the stars of an old children's show, Salmon Cat, who had an acrimonious parting of ways three decades ago and haven't spoken since. Metahumor fairly abounded.
  • In the Charlie's Angels episode "Angels in Chains," Kelly refers to two female prison guards as "Laverne and Shirley."

Western Animation

  • An episode of The Simpsons featured a jigsaw puzzle of Laverne and Shirley.
    • In "Helter Shelter" Squiggy is added to the This Old House-style reality show the Simpsons are a part of, and Lisa is questioning why "the guy from Laverne and Shirley" is there.
