Recap / Yu Gi Oh Arc V Ep 146 Dimension Highway

Go To

After Yuya’s Duel against Kurosaki ended, Jack arrives before Yuya and challenges him. Jack declares that Yuya cannot save anyone as he is right now. Yuya faces off against Jack once again with the Dueling that he believes in.

However, he is afraid to summon the four dragons, and is quickly driven into a corner. At that moment, Yuya hears the voices of the other three within him...

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • All According to Plan: Yusho even lampshades that everything that is happening is going according to Reiji's plan.
  • All Your Powers Combined: Yuya pulls this when he summons all Four Dimension Dragons in one turn.
  • Back for the Finale: Nearly every character has made a return trip, including Strong Ishijima.
  • Back from the Dead: Marco is shown sitting in the Pendulum Dimension, showing that all of Kurosaki's victims have been uncarded.
  • Bond Creatures: Reiji states the Four Dimension Dragons were with Zarc.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Zigzagged with the Dimension Dragons. While Yuya uses Yuto and Yugo's summoning chants for Dark Rebellion and Clear Wing, Yuya creates a new one for Starve Venom. Justified since he doesn't run a Predator Plant deck.
  • Call-Back: Jack again repeats his advice that if you want to do something, you can't hesitate.
  • Advertisement:
  • Crazy-Prepared: Reiji knew that Yuya would be scared to use the other dimension dragons and thus he had Jack on standby and created a road across the four dimensions.
  • Dare to Be Badass: Invoked; Jack, Yuto, Yugo and Yuri tell Yuya to let loose and finally summon all four dimension dragons.
  • The Dreaded: Ray, to the Dimension Dragons, of all things.
  • Hidden Depths: For the Dimension Dragons, of all things. Yuya reveals that they are actually scared of Ray.
Yuya: Their voices are not angry. They're scared of Ray. That’s why they wanted to stop Ray’s resurrection.
  • I Am Who?: Yuya again states that he's Zarc but in a more positive light.
Yuya: Yuto, Yugo, Yuri. That’s right... We used to be one being. Even if the evil soul is gone, the four avatars became one and... I'm still Zarc. And Zarc can communicate with the hearts of monsters!

  • Instant Awesome: Just Add Dragons!: This episode had a lot of dragons from Jack's Red Dragon Archfiend Scarlight and Red Dragon Archfiend Tyrant to the Four Dimension Dragons.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • When Yuya and Jack are in between dimensions when on the interdimensional highway, it resembles the last part of Yusei and Jack's duel in the Fortune Cup when they had the vision of the Dark Signers.
    • The tuner that Yuya uses to summon Clear Wing is a Synchron, an archetype of tuners that Yusei used.
  • Properly Paranoid: Yuya states that he's scared of summoning the Dimension Dragons for the effect it would do on Reira. When Yuya finally does summon them, Reira is shown clouded by a dark aura.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Jack deliberately told Yuya that he can't save anyone if he keeps on acting like a coward. Jack is right about this, since Yuya must realize that he's what Zarc would've become if he doesn't lost his way.
  • Stern Teacher: Jack's actual goal is encouraging Yuya to summon the Four Dimension Dragons.
  • Wham Line: Yuya revealing that the Dimension Dragons are actually scared of Ray.
  • Wham Shot: Yuya Summoning Dark Rebellion, Clear Wing, and Starve Venom.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Yuto, Yugo, and even Yuri call out Yuya's fear of the dragons and his refusal to listen to their voices.
Yuto: You’re fine with losing like that?
    Yuya: That voice... it's Yuto!
Yuri: Can’t say I like it. Neither is my Starve Venom.
Yugo: Same goes for my Clear Wing.
Yuto: My Dark Rebellion as well.
Yuto, Yugo, and Yuri: That’s what they’re all thinking, for sure.
Yuya: Yugo and Yuri are here too!?
Yuri: Why can’t you understand the dragons’ feelings?
Yugo: Why are you neglecting them?
Yuto: Listen to their voices, Yuya.
Yuto, Yugo, and Yuri: All of us are capable of doing that.
  • Willfully Weak: Yuya once again hesitates to bring out the rest of the Four Dimension Dragons out of fear of what they might do to Reira and Ray. His counterparts and Jack are not pleased at this.
  • "World of Cardboard" Speech: Once Yuya finally gets what Yuto, Yugo, and Yuri were trying to tell him:
Jack: You still don’t get it, Yuya!?
Yuya: No, I get it. You’re telling me not to become a master who’ll end up being decieved by his monsters out of negligence, isn't that right?
Jack: Exactly! Show it to me! Show me your power, as the master who can tame four ferocious dragons as you desire!
Yuya: I’ll show you, Jack! Our power!
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Yuya reassures the Dimension Dragons that they're already strong even without fusing into Z-Arc.
Yuya: Don’t cower! You're already strong, even if you’re not fused into the Supreme King Dragon! And I’ll prove it!
