Xena goes in search of a legendary lost treasure which includes Ambrosia, the sustenance of the gods, in an effort to keep the precious food from falling into the wrong hands.
Tropes
- The Charmer: Petracles. He won over Xena's heart and he was doing the same to Gabrielle despite Xena's warnings.
- Eat the Evidence: Xena eats her clue so that no one else will know it.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: Xena ends up killing Thersites using his own hidden projectile against him.
- If You Ever Do Anything to Hurt Her...: After she sees Gabrielle being friendly towards Petracles, she quietly tells him she will rip out his throat if he does anything to hurt her.
- Immortality Inducer: Ambrosia makes its first appearance in the series. Xena hopes to find it first before the others discover the means to find it.
- Kill the Lights: Thersites kills the lights to make off with the key to Ambrosia and Gabrielle and escape the others.
- Nothing Up My Sleeve: Thersites reveals he has a knife that can shot out and stab his victims.
- Redemption Equals Death: Petracles saves Gabrielle from the hostage situation, but at the cost of his own life.
- Rope Bridge: The four have to cross one to escape a continuous volley of arrows courtesy of the Peis people.
- Rain of Arrows: Shot by the Peis people.
- Shout-Out: The title is a reference to A Fistful of Dollars.
- Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Neither Xena, Petracles nor Thersites trust each other, but they needed each others' clues to get to the gold.
- Victory Is Boring: The reason Petracles abandoned Xena. He won her heart and she was ready to marry him, but he lost interest afterwards and decided to leave her.
- Woman Scorned: Xena is still more than a bit peeved at Petracles for dumping her.
