The Great Ping Pong Scam

Tropes

  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Tori beats all of the players on the ping pong team easily each time.
  • Eye Scream: When Tori takes Sinjin in the janitor's closet, he thinks that she's finally going to kiss him, so he puckers up and leans forward. She responds by taking a spray bottle of cleaning liquid that was nearby and pulls the trigger with the spray aimed toward his eyeballs.
  • Groin Attack: While up against Robbie in ping-pong, Tori sends the ball sailing to hit precisely on Robbie's crotch. He collapses in pain.
  • I'm Standing Right Here: While at the restaurant, all of the ping pong players and Sikowitz are dressed in appropriate attire except for Tori, who is wearing her team tracksuit (this is because Jade "forgot" to tell her to wear a dress at the place). While there, two elderly ladies point and whisper about her to each other, something that Tori notices and is annoyed with.
Tori: Yes, I am wearing a ping pong uniform! (the ladies stop muttering and hurriedly walk away)
  • Ironic Echo: When pulling up the evidence on her phone that ensures she can join the team, Tori mockly says to Jade, "Read the phone. Read the phone!" while waving her phone screen in her face. But later, when Jade finds substantial evidence to ensure that Tori cannot join the team, she does the same routine.
Tori: (pulls Jade's phone away from her face) Don't you steal my "phone in face" bit!
  • Meaningful Name: The restaurant is called "Maestro's", and combines classy music with fine dining.
  • Monochrome Past: While the team is explaining how the alleged ping pong team was formed, flashbacks show that have a sepia-like tone.
  • Poor Communication Kills: For some reason, the waitress never told Robbie that ordering a big bowl of caviar would cost extra and she is never implicated for the bill coming out to more than the group intended for it.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Sikowitz sneaks out of the restaurant and leave the teenagers to fend for themselves against the exorbitant bill they can't hopelessly pay off. He later returns to investigate just how it went, but when he sees Tori and Andre performing music to repay dinner he sneaks back in.
  • Shockingly Expensive Bill: Robbie nearly doubled the Ping Pong Team's restaurant bill for ordering a bowl of caviar.
  • Spit Take: Sikowitz first reacts to seeing the enormous restaurant bill by spitting out his mouthful of chowder.
  • Wham Line: When Sikowitz receives the damage for the bill.
    Sikowitz: "It's $1,300!"
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Robbie gets chewed out for ordering the caviar since it means they're over budget and can't pay for their meal.
  • Work Off the Debt: Tori and Andre make up for the bill by standing in for the restaurant’s live entertainment, performing the duet song "Tell Me That You Love Me" with Tori as the lead singer and Andre as the pianist and back-up singer.
