Recap / Ultraman Z Ep 15: A Warriors Duty

Go To

Emergency contact from Ultraman Geed! It seems that a distortion is created in the universe, and a void monster, Greeza, who returns everything to nothing, appears. We need new power to face this threat! Yes, the strongest figure of Ultraman Z is born here now!

Episode Tropes:

  • The Assimilator: Greeza again, played to horrifying effect when it absorbs Geed and gains his powers.
  • Beyond the Impossible: Delta Rise Claw serves as this to combat Greeza, a being of non-existence and the walking embodiment of the void. The means of attaining said form is a bit convoluted, in a sequential order:
    • According to the Ultra himself, Greeza can be defeated with a power beyond logic, and the only idea he could think of is combining the powers of three Ultramen — two of them (Zero and Geed) who had a rivalry with the other (Belial). Sadly, Z adds that a Belial medal doesn't exist, which leads to...
    • ...Haruki running into Juggler, having overheard the former's conversation with Z. Juggler proves them otherwise and made the formula possible when they raid Celebro's hideout and forced the latter to cough up the Belial medal. When Belial's medal make contact with Zero and Geed's, they evolve into the Rise Medals.
    • Forcing the Belial Atrocious medal through unprecedented determination is the icing on the cake. One should note that any [first] attempt of using a collectible containing Belial's powers results in a backlash on the user and must undergo in a certain emotional state to do so; such as in the case of Gai Kurenai, who gave in to his rage and anguish upon witnessing Tamayura's Heroic Sacrifice, allowed the Belial card to fully activate. Riku, on the other hand, is exempted from this rule considering he is Belial's offspring and the evil Ultra's genes coursing through his veins; allowing him to use Primitive and Royal Megamaster with no problem at all.
  • The Bus Came Back:
    • Riku once again returns just for this episode only. The same can be said with his Primitive form thanks to Hikari fixing his Geed Riser.
    • Tri-King, and by extension Five King makes a comeback, only now it's Juggler in the driver's seat.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The Five King medal set are this for Juggler, considering that he snagged them from Celebro in episode 8; he makes good use of them against Greeza. In addition, the Belial Medal that Celebro manufactured and used to assume the form of three Belial Fusion Monsters gets to be the center of this episode.
  • Crazy-Prepared: The reason Juggler chooses to invoke Tri-King and Five-King instead of Zeppandon is perhaps due to the fact that he's aware of Greeza's existence and needs an even more powerful kaiju to combat it. Fittingly enough, if he were to become Zeppandon and needs to assume Five King, he would require the lengthy process of inserting five medals and two scanning processes.
  • Determinator: Both Haruki and Z forced the Belial Atrocious Medal into the Z Riser with unprecedented sheer force of will.
  • Fake Shemp: Riku's actor physically doesn't return for this episode's filming and is only there to provide voice overs. The scenes of Riku appearing is simply recycling and modifying a few shots way back from Ultraman Geed. His transformation scene is also recycled from Episode 6.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Juggler's idea of method of giving Z a power-up is to find a Belial medal, and Celebro has one in his possession. That said, he and Haruki raid his lair and force him to cough up the medal. Through Zero and Geed's medals, the former and the Belial medal turned into the Zero Beyond and Belial Atrocious medals.
  • Jack Bauer Interrogation Technique: Juggler forces Celebro to cough up the Belial Medal by holding his sword to the parasite's throat and refusing to remove it until he gives it up.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • This is not the first time someone experiences a backlash from using Belial's power to access a fusion form associated with the evil Ultra's power. The difference is that Gai Kurenai tried to scan Belial's card in his first attempt to transform into Thunder Breastar and fails until he was pushed to the edge at the sight of Tamayura's Heroic Suicide. Haruki and Z on the other hand managed to force the medal themselves.
    • Juggler invoking Tri and Five King against Greeza is most likely his answer to X's Hybrid Armor.
  • Never My Fault: Implied. Celebro laughs it off when he's called out by Juggler and Haruki over the Bullton incident from the earlier episode which transpired Greeza's rampage, this is because he knows that it's STORAGE and Ultraman Z are to blame for bringing Greeza out of Bullton in the first place. He even go so far to bluntly respond that he had nothing to do with Greeza to begin with.
