Return to Recap: The Smurfs.

A series of one-page gags, with a four-page story about Smurfette making another visit to the village included.

Tropes associated with this story include:

  • Adaptation Dye-Job: The Black Smurf that Jokey disguises himself as for a joke in a one-page gag is recolored green in an early English translation and purple in the Papercutz version.
  • Disguised in Drag: One of the male Smurfs as a queen piece, as Smurfette is already playing the opposite player's queen piece.
  • Excrement Statement: A bird poops on Greedy's cake while delivering a message from Smurfette to the Smurfs.
  • For Halloween, I Am Going as Myself: In a one-page gag, all the Smurfs attend a costume party dressed as Papa Smurf, except for one Smurf, who seems to be dressed as himself. The catch? The ordinary Smurf is actually Papa Smurf wearing a costume.
  • Human Chess: A non-villainous version in a one-page gag about Brainy and another Smurf using their fellow Smurfs as chess pieces, with one Smurf getting so bored that he sings once he is removed from the board.
  • Literal Metaphor: When Smurfette tells her fellow Smurfs that she wants them to "bring her the moon," the Smurfs take to fulfilling this request rather literally — one Smurf tries to pole-vault up to the sky and grab the moon, another Smurf tries to scoop up the moon's reflection in the water with a net, a third Smurf tries with an arrow and gets another Smurf Shot in the Ass, a fourth Smurf tries to build a rocket, a fifth Smurf makes a cutout of a moon shape, and so on.
  • May–December Romance: Tried and failed again with Papa Smurf and Smurfette. This time, the Smurfs even mock Papa Smurf for attempting this.
  • Smurfing: An entire one-page gag is about one Smurf talking to another Smurf mostly in Smurf language about the new invention that he has called a "smurf". The other Smurf by the end of the story seems to be just as confused as the reader is for not understanding a single word that was being said about the invention.
  • The Smurf In The Mirror Smurfs Back: Brainy in a one-page gag becomes so annoying with his moralizing that even his mirror reflection hits him over the head with a hammer to get him to stop talking.
  • Symbol Swearing: A Smurf curses up a storm when he hits his foot with a hammer, so Papa Smurf has him wash his mouth out with soap. The Smurf promises that he will never curse again, but the soap bubbles produced from his mouth are all full of this.
