- Artistic License – Law: Kent Brockman is caught out lying about serving the military in the 98th Airborn Division. Kent is fired for lying about being a veteran, he's never punished for breaking the Stolen Valor Act as he should have been imprisoned for lying about being a soldier.
- Call-Back: Tibor is the immigrant employee who Homer and his friends blame when something goes wrong yet gets promoted anyway; he was originally mentioned in The Simpsons S4 E7 "Marge Gets a Job".
- Indirect Kiss: Played for Laughs when Lisa spits out one of the Krustacean candies which winds up in Milhouse's mouth; he's thrilled for this exact reason and Nelson purposely catches the candy on the next spit.
- Made of Explodium: Bart insists that Krusty makes quality products, only for his Krusty-branded lunchbox to suddenly blow up.Milhouse: Incoming!
- My Beloved Smother: Milhouse has a smartphone app called "Smothr" that allows Luann to surveil him 24/7.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After accidentally letting it slip that he's in Krusty's pay, Bart jumps into what he assumes is a time machine ("I'll see you in the future!"), which is actually Frink's bathing suit dryer.
- Shallow News Site Satire: Kent seeks employment at BizzFad, a website with articles such as "6 Things You Didn't Know About 6 Things". Unfortunately for Kent, he joined the site just as it goes bankrupt.
- Suspiciously Specific Denial:Lisa: You're just an apologist for Krusty.Bart: I am not a paid apologist for Krusty!Lisa: ...I didn't say "paid."Bart: Gotta go.
- Tempting Fate: After confessing his lies, Kent expresses his hopes of being forgiven while his spot at Channel 6 is given to Arnie Pye. Later, Kent tries to find comfort on the fact he still has his car and his cell phone. The car is pulled from him, making him fall and break the cell phone. The car is taken from him because it belongs to Channel 6.
- Worth It: Bart already has a Krustacean bag in spite of Krusty having just announced that product. He explains it as a perk of his club membership, claiming it's U$ 75.00 per month but worth it.
