Chapter 7: The Sleepover

The girls gather at Sasha's for a sleepover, complete with a Scare Dare challenge.

Tropes That Appear In This Chapter:

  • Big Damn Kiss: Downplayed; the chapter ends with Luz giving a sleeping Anne a kiss on the cheek.
  • Bilingual Bonus: Luz says "Que puta!" in regards to Jesse Bliss, basically saying "What a bitch!"
  • Crush Blush: Luz has three of these around Anne.
  • Debut Queue: The Lyft Driver, first appears here, and he'll become prominent in future Earth chapters.
  • Foreshadowing: This is the first time Sasha hears that voice, and it won't be the last.
  • Good-Times Montage: Luz, Anne, and Marcy have one while dancing.
  • Hate Sink: The girls make it clear that they all hate Jesse Bliss for a reason: she mixed up Anne and Luz's ethnicities, borrowed money from Sasha and spread rumors that she stole money from her (ignoring the fact that Sasha's rich), and stuck gum in Marcy's hair plus stole her Azura Vol. 3.
  • Hearing Voices: The reason Sasha loses the Scare Dare challenge is because she hears a voice talking to her.
  • Sleep Cute: When Anne ends up being too tired to move anymore, she collapses on top of Luz and goes to sleep using her as a pillow. Luz readjusts them so it's more comfortable for her.
  • Slumber Party: The chapter shows the girls having the sleepover Sasha mentioned she would have back in "Last Day of School!"
  • Wham Episode: Sasha starts hearing a strange voice and Luz starts to develop a crush on Anne.
  • Wham Line: What the voice said to Sasha.
"I can see in your heart. You desire power and control. I see you have managed to manipulate your friends into serving you. You like controlling people, and why shouldn't you? I can teach you how to be better at it. All you have to do is come through the portal..."
  • What Is This Feeling?: As she dances with Anne, Luz starts feeling butterflies in her stomach. As the night goes on and they have a few more moments, Luz starts questioning why she feels like this and concludes her feelings for Anne have changed.
