  • Muppet News Flash
  • "In the Good Old Summertime"
  • UK Spot: "Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee (An Actor's Life for Me)"

  • The jousting scene from Camelot with a medley from different shows: "Ascot Gavotte"/"Hello, Dolly!"/"Fugue for Tinhorns"/"Anything You Can Do"/"A Boy Like That"/"Everything's Coming Up Roses"

This episode has examples of

  • Actor Allusion: Pearl Bailey sings the title song from Hello Dolly during the jousting scene. Bailey had played Dolly on several stage productions, winning a Tony Award for it in 1968.
  • Clamshells as Mouths: The oysters harassing Bailey at the start of the episode talk by opening and closing their shells.
  • Hurt Foot Hop: After Floyd falls onto Kermit in a full suit of armour, Kermit yelps and hops, with one flipper in the air.
Kermit: Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh! Oh, ow! Fractured flipper! Oh, oh, oh!
  • I Do Not Like Green Eggs and Ham: Beaker is initially very resistant to trying Bunsen's edible paperclips, but once he gets a taste of them, he happily gobbles them up.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Bunsen claims that Beaker is eager and willing to try the edible paperclips. As soon as Beaker appears on-screen, he's begging not to.
  • Jukebox Musical: The Camelot sketch becomes one after they're forced to use music from pretty much any show other than Camelot due to being unable to afford the royalties for the music from the actual show.
  • Narrative Profanity Filter: Whatever it is that Beaker mumbles to Bunsen, it's treated as if he was cursing, as Bunsen scolds him and insists he eat the paperclips.
  • Not What I Signed on For: Floyd, being cast as a knight: "When I said that I wanted to get into something heavy, Sir Knight of the Iron was not what I had in mind."
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: The Black Knight's identity is supposed to be secret, but one look at the nose will tell you it's Gonzo.
  • Saying Sound Effects Out Loud: In the opening of Muppet Labs, Bunsen audibly says, "Tinker tinker, fiddle" while tinkering with a machine.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: In Universe. Kermit learns too late that they don't have the money to use the music for the jousting scene from Camelot. (Kermit only had $14.95 on the budget, and he spent $13.50 on the costumes.) Instead, the scene is performed with songs cobbled from different musicals like Hello, Dolly!, West Side Story and Guys and Dolls.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Beaker finds the edible paperclips delicious, and for once it seems that a Muppet Labs sketch will end well for him. Then his nose falls off.

Statler: I didn't like it.
Waldorf: What did the avocado think?
Avocado: It's the pits!
[All three chuckle, but then the avocado falls backwards]
