A Plot: Frustrated with Barry always wearing his beloved Philadelphia Flyers jersey (Big Orange), Beverly and Lainey mutually agree to "accidentally" ruin it in the washing machine. Barry sees the damage as a "shirt murder" and soon asks Adam and Erica to investigate.
B Plot: Murray plans on tearing down the treehouse and Adam protests, recalling the good times he had in the structure with Erica playing "detective". He strikes a deal with Murray that the treehouse will stay if they can solve who destroyed Big Orange. However, Erica couldn't care less.
- Actor Allusion: At the funeral for Big Orange, Lainey and Erica sing "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves. AJ Michalka, who plays Lainey, covered the same song with her band Aly & A.J. in Herbie: Fully Loaded.
- Companion Cube: Barry turns out to be far more attached to Big Orange than Beverly and Lainey expected.
