A Plot: When Barry and Erica forget Mother's Day again, they quickly improvise coupons for good deeds to give to Beverly. Fed up, Beverly decides to redeem all the coupons from the two that she has kept over the years, making Barry and Erica miserable.

B Plot: Adam tries to convince Murray to pay for him to go to Space Camp, but Murray refuses, saying it's too expensive and an impractical dream for Adam to have. At Pops' suggestion, he and Adam visit Pop-Pop (Murray's father) to find out if he had crushed Murray's childhood dreams, and learn that Murray wanted to be a ventriloquist.

  • Abusive Parents: After Adam accuses Murray of being just like Pop-Pop when it comes to crushing dreams, Murray retorts that he at least has never left Adam hungry, or forced to walk in the rain, or left to cry himself to sleep because of an unexplained absence. Additionally, towards the end of the B Plot, Murray asks his father why he never humored his ambitions; Pop-Pop retorts that it's because Murray was a moron (in a far crueler tone than when Murray uses the word), and that it was his job as a father to "set him straight", convinced he did the best he could. It's this answer that leads Murray to relent and get Adam a ticket to Space Camp.
  • Curtain Clothing: Barry and Erica getting fed up and refusing to honor any more coupons leads to Beverly taking away all the gifts she's given them over the years, including clothes, leading to them improvising with garbage bags and bath mats.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: When Barry and Erica get fed up with Beverly, she's heartbroken, stating that her children can't spend one day a year doing something for her when she spends the rest of the year doing everything for them.
  • Oh, Crap!: Barry and Erica when Adam gives Beverly her Mother's Day gift, making them realize they have forgotten Mother's Day entirely.
  • Soundtrack Dissonance: Barry and Erica try to make it up to Beverly for forgetting Mother's Day by cooking her breakfast. The soundtrack for this is "The Greatest Love Of All" by Whitney Houston, an apt selection for such a heartwarming moment... except that the scene shows the stove on fire, the dishwasher overflowing, and the kitchen in general disarray, as Erica and Barry scramble to clean up the mess. Beverly still finds it incredibly touching, though, because it's the hardest they've ever worked to show their love for her.
