Go To

Original air date: 6/11/2022

Production code: 116a

Molly becomes Mayor of Brighton for a day but when Mayor Brunson leaves her in charge permanently and her ideas cause problems, she has to convince him to take the job back.

Tropes:

  • Clothes Make the Superman: Defied. Molly thinks wearing a blazer would make her a good mayor. Turns out it's just a stylish accessory that doesn't grant her any wisdom on running a town.
  • Continuity Nod: Molly brings up her distaste for maple syrup, which was first brought up in "Scratch the Surface".
  • Did Not Think This Through: Darryl and Scratch's idea of a giant pancake party with a maple syrup slide do make the Brighttonians happy... until the syrup attracts a swarm of horseflies that overtake the town.
  • Given Name Reveal: This episode reveals the Mayor's full name is Stu Brunson.
  • Mayor Pain: Molly means well, but she has absolutely no experience as mayor and causes an invasion of horseflies.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: When Molly puts on her blazer, she undergoes a Magical Girl Transformation Sequence.
  • Pep-Talk Song: Mayor Brunson gets a song from the ghosts of his ancestors encouraging him to take back his job as mayor.
  • Perfectly Cromulent Word: Molly wants to "enhappify" the town, as well as make "enhappify" a real word.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Mayor Brunson doesn't want to be mayor anymore and tricks Molly into becoming his successor.
  • Stealing from the Till: Darryl spends most of the episode shoving office supplies in his pockets.
  • The Swarm: Brighton is overrun by aggressive, hungry horseflies that keep terrorizing the people.
  • Transformation Sequence: When Molly puts on the blazer, she undergoes one that is a direct spoof of Sailor Moon.
  • Walk and Talk: Molly has a walk-and-talk sequence with Darryl and Scratch while planning her first action as mayor.

When Molly puts on her blazer in preparation for becoming mayor of Brighton, she undergoes a Transformation Sequence that looks suspiciously similar to a certain Magical Girl anime series.
