Go To

Original Air Date (UK): Sep 25, 1990

Rufus sets off to Viltheed accompanied by Pildit. Zordrak's attack separates Pildit from Rufus, so Rufus ventures into Zordrak's fortress alone restoring Amberley from her stone form. Together they recover the Dreamstone and with Pildit's help, make their escape.

NOTE: This episode is the second part of a one hour Opening Special.

Tropes featured in the episode:

  • Disney Death:
    • Pildit is crushed by some rocks, but later gets back up just in time to defend Rufus and Amberly from an incoming army of Urpneys.
    • Amberley, who was turned into a stone statue, is revived by Rufus's tear.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Among many details different from the rest of the series:
    • The heroes, as with the first part, are more comical. Rufus and Pildit are dizzier in personality and Amberley is much more hot headed, and seems mildly smitten by Pildit. They also take part in Toon Physics more than in the rest of the series, at one point Rufus and Pildit are even charred by lightning.
    • Compared to the Comically Lop Sided Rivalry for most of the series onward, the climax is much more dramatic and even handed. The Noops Earn Their Happy Ending, two heroes nearly die, and Rufus is forced to risk his life on numerous occasions. The Whirliped also puts up a formidable chase here, while in later episodes it is often easily neutralised or prone to crashing.
    • Urpgor's voice and design are noticeably different. His eyes also have purple sclera in this episode only.
  • Either/Or Title: Some airings have it simply titled "The Dreamstone Part Two" to tie it with the previous part of the pilot.
  • Manly Tears: Rufus, first from losing Pildit, then Amberley.
  • Pity the Kidnapper: Amberley spends most of her captivity conscious giving Frizz and Nug a good beating. She eventually makes so much of a fuss that Zordrak loses patience and turns her to stone to shut her up.
  • Shoo Out the Clowns: Blob and his men disappear for most of the main climax following Pildit's Disney Death, at which point things become a lot more tense and serious.
  • Taken for Granite: Amberley. Several stone Urpneys that suffered the same fate also become pivotal after she is reverted back.
  • Team Rocket Wins: Zordrak succeeds in sending his Argorribles to bring nightmares onto the Land Of Dreams.
  • Unexplained Recovery: Pildit, despite being crushed by an avalanche and Rufus even checking his pulse, turns up alive and perfectly well during the Urpney chase.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Urpgor throws quite a snit fit when Blob's troops fail to utilize the Egg of Death properly. In turn Zordrak goes into a earthquake inducing rage. He calms instantly when it leads to a landslide supposedly crushing the heroes.
