A Goblin orphan named Cleevil has come to town. Although the whole town is prejudiced against goblins, Puss and Dulcinea insist that she be allowed to stay in San Lorenzo, the city where no orphan is left behind.
Tropes:
- Accidental Misnaming: The Duchess never gets Cleevil's name right.
- Broken Pedestal: Part of The Duchess' plan is to make Puss lose his trust in the orphans is by invoking this with Cleevil's betrayal. It doesn't work as he still believes in her and realizes she was tricked.
- Callback:
- The Duchess has returned. Since Puss set all of her offensive spells free, she needs a new power source for her gun. She also seems to have had a falling out with Artephius since then.Artephius: Yoo-hoo, Duchie! Notice anything different about me??
Duchess: Oh... I am so not speaking to you. - Puss still keeps the key to the San Lorenzo treasure vault in his boot and once again an orphan is tricked into stealing it for someone planning to use it for evil purposes.
- The Duchess has returned. Since Puss set all of her offensive spells free, she needs a new power source for her gun. She also seems to have had a falling out with Artephius since then.
- Chekhov's Gun: Cleevil throws her Gob Flute at the entrance of the vault after Puss asks her to stop playing it. Later after being tied up she is able to spot it and use it to alert the town to the robbery.
- Dark and Troubled Past: Cleevil is clearly used to the Fantastic Racism against her.
- Dark Is Not Evil: Despite all the negative connotations goblins have, Cleevil is a nice girl.
- Dreadful Musician: More like a Dreadful Instrument, as it seems like according to Cleevil you are supposed to play it badly (or only Goblins like the sound). When Puss comments on Cleevil's practicing, she just comments on how she is getting much louder with it than better.
- Fantastic Racism
- Gone Horribly Right: Vina just wanted to make Cleevil angry and was being a jerk to her. Cleevil's pent up outrage from this last straw cases her to lash out which turns the entire town against her. Something Vina is clearly upset by.
- Good Feels Good: Cleevil believes Puss is rewarded for his actions in protecting the town and wonders what goodies he gets from it. Puss is baffled by this and flat out tells her he doesn't receive any reward other than knowing he did good.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Did you know Vina has a crush on Toby and does not like that Toby has a crush on Cleevil?
- Heel Realization: Vina is just trying to get rid of Cleevil because she's jealous of her, but when she incites an incident and the entire town gangs up against her, she starts to feel bad.
- Mundane Utility: Artephius uses the Lorenzo Lapis Lazuli, a powerful magical artifact, to cut a piece of pyrite to decorate his cane.
- Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Vina is quick to point out "Cleevil" rhymes with "Evil".
- Noodle Incident: It would appear the caretaker's Fantastic Racism towards Goblins was because she had a wonderful date with one and he never called back after.
- Duchess can't go back to magic prison! She burned some bridges there man...
- Power Crystal: The Lorenzo Lapis Lazuli, a magical blue crystal capable of powerful energy blasts.
- Rage Breaking Point: After Vina draws a racist picture of goblins directed at Cleevil along with all the things she has done up to this point, Cleevil absolutely loses it.
- Sixth Ranger: Cleevil the Goblin joins the band of Orphans.
- Taking the Bullet: Cleevil jumps into the path of a blast that should have killed Puss. She survives because her scaley skin gives her Super-Toughness.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Vina does all she can to tick off Cleevil.
- Unwitting Pawn: The Duchess tricks Cleevil into thinking she will make her a princess if she helps her steal what she wants. Cleevil is so entranced with the idea of being a princess she is unable to realize that she is being tricked.
- Won't Take "Yes" for an Answer: After Puss tells Cleevil that she officially is a San Lorenzen, she reacts as if he his kicking her out of town. He has to repeat it clearer for her to realize she is allowed to stay.
- You Remind Me of X: Puss tells Cleevil that she reminds him of himself when he was a child.
